Is Obama A Keynesian? Rally For Sanity Attendees Weigh In (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/01/10 05:23 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:10 PM ET

Andy Cobb and The Partisans have a knack for exposing the ridiculousness in politics, and this weekend they did just that at the Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear. While carrying a sign asking if Obama is a Keynesian, as in the macroeconomic policy, Cobb asked rally-goers if they agreed with the question. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) several people became outraged because they assumed he was asking if Obama was from Kenya.

It might have helped if he had pronounced Keynes correctly -- 'canes', not 'keens'

Funny and sad at the same time. Our school system should start paying us instead of the other way around.

These are the same people who will lecture on "settled science" regarding AGW and act like they have written papers at MIT.

It's a very telling clip.

LOL. The lady in the red jacket was hilarious.
The only guy who knew what "Keynesian" is, was the man with the finger hat and the sunglasses.
Kinda sad.

It's good to see that our side has its share of ignorance. Kind of balances things out a little.

Dumb is dumb - regardless of party and/or ideology.

So can we stop already with the false narrative that only the left has the answers.

Love it. Stupid has no party affiliation.

So sad. Our country is not very bright. That is why America can't make up its mind on policy.

Somehow I don't think Jon Stewart will put this on his show.

Pity

This is "very funny" to a person like me. An American who leans Republican, and Conservative on most issues.
I instantly knew that the sign referenced John M Keynes (The Economist) who believed that government must pump up aggregate demand, and spend money, when their is an economic downturn, and that this is efffectively the policy of the current "adminstration", and also the Federal Reserve.
I also knew that the average person at the rally would have no idea (liberal, conservative or just fans of comedy). In fairness, this kind of "sarcastic comedy" should have been understood by the liberal, college eductated viewers of Jon Stewart, only if they are over 40, and went to work in finance. Who could appreciate this kind of a comedy. "The Great One---William F Buckley".

Hey now, I'm 31 and I got it lol (then again I do have a graduate level education)! In all seriousness, it is rather embarrassing to watch this, knowing that in many instances those who were viewed here come off much like the tea-partiers that they certainly spend much time poking fun at.
