Pamela Anderson's 'Playboy' Charity Donation Denounced By Indonesian Islamic Group

Actress Pamela Anderson has frequently grabbed media attention for her charity work, usually promoting the animal rights group PETA.

This time, the buxom actress is making the headlines for her latest charity contribution -- one that's caused controversy in Indonesia.

According to the New York Post, Anderson posed naked for the January issue of "Playboy" and gave the $25,000 payment to disaster relief organization Waves 4 Water to help Indonesian disaster victims.

The nonprofit organization brings water filters to communities struggling to recover from natural disasters.

Anderson told TMZ.com,

"I've also donated personally. I wish I could do more. Indonesia, Haiti and Pakistan are all in need of these filters. Spread the word!"

However, in the predominately Muslim nation of Indonesia, Anderson's naked photos have caused a stir as an indecent way to raise charity dollars. A hardline conservative Muslim group known as the Islamic Defenders Front has publicly denounced Anderson's donation.

The New York Post reports,

But the Islamic Defenders Front on Monday told Indonesia's Metro TV that the donation to the charity -- which works to bring clean drinking water to disaster hit zones -- would be "against the law of God" because it was obtained through "immoral acts."

Have you seen Mz Anderson in the new PETA "Compassion Tour, Bedbugs"? It involves beautiful, naked women in raised platforms and lying in bed in a very public setting. The catch? The women are breast feeding large broods of "guest" bed bugs in order to advocate "compassion for the smaller creatures of the world."

Good for them! Give back the money, or ask for a donation from someone else. Just like someone whose money comes from a bank robbery, or mugging, or working as an abortion doctor, there will be those offended. And while the water filters may be important, I am impressed by someone turning away an ill-gotten gift, rather than compromising their beliefs to accept it. There has to be another way. There just has to be.

Another way? Of course there's another way.

It begins by turning away those evil water filters and allowing some number of your fellow Indonesian citizens to die.

But hey, at least they'll go to heaven, right?

I knew that all the Islamophobes will jump this wagon to sling their nasty posts against over a billion followers of Islam and settele I don't know what score. The Indonesian government is also MUSLIM, they accepted the donation you know!! If a GROUP (read the article damn it) has a different opinion, just like we have here the 700 club and people who think that Katrina was a punishment for gay parades, the Indonesians have their extreme groups as well.
Islamophobes enjoy to generalize every bad thing they see in the news, even if that group was 5 people only or one, it is still applicable to generalize and demonize all the Muslims around the world.
Settling political differences or Middle East struggles should not permit such hateful remarks and clear bigotry. Then you wonder why they hate us. Sometimes you need to pause and think whether it is because how much YOU hate them!

I think most people are simply criticizing religion in general, not individuals of a culture. And I think religion should be scrutinized just like anything else. Religion breaks down critical thinking at its core, which is the basis for seriously delusional thinking. Calling everyone who criticizes religion "Islamophobes" is not a valid counterargument.

By the way, I don't think the major reason some people in the Middle East hate Americans is because people post hateful remarks on a blog about Islam. I think it's because American has invaded their land and killed their people. Just something to "pause and think" about.

I'm not a fan of Pamela Anderson at all, but do islamic supremacist (like their christians version, but that an other debate...) actually like something that is not EXACTLY like them? That not a news a all
07:41 AM on 11/02/2010
some people need to stop taking this out of context. the idf is just stating their discontent at the method in which the money came about for the donation. no different than any other ultra religious group announcing their possible discontent for something similar. good chance the donation will be used none the less. indonesia is still a pretty secular, predominately muslim, country.

that said, as a muslim, i can understand their contention. as an indonesian, i would still accept and utilize the donation. hey, could be worse. least it didn't come from drug trafficking which i find more deplorable as odd as that may sound.

The difference is considerable between what Pamela Anderson has done and what the illegal drug industry has done. Under the premise that there is a "God," He created the female body, and he also placed the desire to view it in the hearts of men. This is why such a large volume of web sites are dedicated to pornography, and why their content is contributed from all corners of the globe without regard for religion, culture or ideology. Sex is universal, and while religious fundamentalists may wish to deny what is right in front of their faces; boys will be boys. Drug dealers, on the other hand, seek only to profit from the weakness of their fellow man and don't care that this weakness may shorten his or her life or destroy his or her family. When has a drug cartel ever donated to any humanitarian cause? The IDF seeks discontent and offense, and therefore finds it wherever they look, nothing is quite "pure" enough for them.
10:24 AM on 11/03/2010
Money known to have been raised engaging in something wrong cannot be accepted by people.

If a man sold drugs and then publicly said he was going to donate $25,000 of drug money for water treatment or wells, then that's wrong.

If a gang robbed and killed people and said they would donate $25,000 of that stolen blood soked money for water treatment, then that would be wrong.

For a Muslim people to accept that that is knowingly raised by forbidden and immoral ways, then that would be wrong.

Haters are gonna hate. And those who rebel against God will always despise those who obey God and hold God's Law above Man's whims.
