The Sanity Song: Jon Stewart's Rally Speech Auto-Tuned By The Gregory Brothers (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/01/10 01:59 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:10 PM ET

It didn't take long for auto-tune gurus the Gregory brothers to work their magic on Jon Stewart's closing speech at the Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear. Here it is, aptly titled "Sanity Song," highlighting Stewart's cry for the media to use its magnifying glass for good with some added facts about transportation in New Jersey. It may not be as catchy as the "Bed Intruder" remix, but the message is certainly more profound!

The feeling of unity at the rally was visceral. It was exactly what I needed for some sanity and hopefully what the country needed for some healing of the great divide that has pervaded recent times.

Please look for The Movement to Restore Unity on Facebook. The rally was an experience of Americans who united in support of a civil discourse. We want to take it further and spread the unity. United we stand; divided we fall.

I have started a web page and need input, please visit themovmenttorestoreunity.org - its for all Americans who care.

As a Jersey girl whose spent the last 20 years in "exile" in Houston, I broke down on Saturday when the bit about taking turn to get into the tunnel ended in the "Sometime, it's just NJ." line.

For 20 years, I've been trying to figure out why Houstonians cannot seem to master the concept of the "alternate merge", something that is accomplished with grace & ease thousands of times per day in the NY/NJ metroplex. I dismissed stupidity as a reason since folks here are plenty smart. I dismissed selfishness, because they are some of the kindest & most generous folks I've ever met.

I'm still baffled, but I think I'm honing in on a combination of the "myth" of "rugged individualism", plus a simple lack of experience in dealing with less room, more congestion, etc. that wasn't an issue 30-40 years, ago. The alternate merge is a perfect metaphor for what we need to learn to do as a country. The only way we all get to the light at the end of the tunnel is to cooperate and think about others. Sometimes, the light at the end of the tunnel IS just NJ, but that's not such a bad thing, is it?

I was really touched by that as well. I moved from Colorado to Chile and they are the most selfish drivers I had ever seen. They even cut in front while turning-not just the occasional selfish person as we have. When I came back, I marveled at how well people get along in traffic-positively well-behaved. Jon is right-the alternate merge a perfect analogy of how we get along every day.

Man. I can't decide which I'm more sick of;
people who click on, read, and comment on stories or topic they claim to dislike,
....or responding to said people's aforemontioned comments myself.

I loved the speech and I loved the New Jersey line! I loved the auto tune version, too! Let's not run the risk of taking ourselves way too seriously folks. I think that's kind of what we're trying to avoid. I don't think John Stewart went home from this rally thinking he was anointed by God to "lead people" now because he drew such a big crowd. Unlike someone else who will remain nameless. Glenn Beck. See what I did there? I named him.
