Rappers Looking Like Magicians: Where Lil' Wayne Meets David Blaine (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 11/03/10 03:52 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:10 PM ET

Rappers aren't known for their humility or subtlety. It's frequent for a rapper to akin him or herself with a grandiose or particularly grand profession: pimps, kings, general man about town, feared by all. But until we found the Tumblr Rappers Looking Like Magicians, we don't know how it isn't flagrantly obvious that their most similar doppelgangers are magicians. Similarly stylish and with a penchant for mystery, magicians and rappers intersect far more often than we expected. Take a look at some of our favorite selections from their site, and make sure to vote for your favorite!

I was there the day we took the picture of KRS ONE with the Gospel of Hip Hop. Shouts to RR for the photo idea.

KRS-One? No one -- no one! -- is more authentic. Methinks you known not of what you speak. Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everything!

I find KRS-One a bit lacking in content, rhythms, beats. Hey, just about everything that Public Enemy is supreme at. If you actually think that KRS-One's musical spirit is better than Public Enemy. If you think anything about him is better than Public Enemy, well you just go ahead thinking that while I just go ahead listening to Public Enemy. I don't have a problem with you doing that, cat with a tophat jl4141. I'll fan ya anyway because you listen.

I thought the Tupac comments were tasteless. In addition, the joke made no sense. Tupac died from a punch in the stomach, huh?
A good joke is geat, but these jokes sound like Yani wrote wrote them.

Houdini died from a punch in the stomach. But I agree. Not funny.

Thanks again Huffpo.

And progressives wonder why there aren't more blacks, men in particular, involved in the party apparatus. We really feel appreciated with coverage like this.

Oh, and I'm being facetious. This quality, along with humility (surprise, surprise) is actually achievable by someone who also raps. Imagine that...and keep it firmly in mind next time you cast snarky stones.

For those of you claim to hate Hip Hop, Rap, or think it's unintelligent, gangsta, violent debauchery, I suggest you take a listen to anything from KRS-ONE (slide 1) and see if you can keep up.

Yes! Now HP just needs to figure out what 'comedy' is and we'll be sorted.
