Victoria's Secret Show Casting Director Explains What She Looks For In A Lingerie Model (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/03/2010 3:37 pm Updated: 05/25/2011 6:10 pm

ET dropped in on the first day of callbacks for the Victoria's Secret show casting. Casting director Monica Mitro told the cameras, "The first thing we look for really are healthy bodies, and energy. A lot of the fashion shows you see girls who can just walk and they're just hangers with outfits hanging on them, but for Victoria's Secret? It's a show."

So who will be modeling the latest lingerie trends? According to Fashionologie, Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Behati Prinsloo, Chanel Iman, Lily Aldridge, Isabel Goulart, Flavia de Oliveira, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Liu Wen, Anja Rubik, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Erin Heatherton, Isabeli Fontana, Lindsay Ellingson, Jessica Stam, Emanuela de Paula, Maryna Linchuk, Magdalena Frackowiak and Edita Vilkeviciute are all names being thrown around. No word yet on the final line-up, but we'll find out soon enough, when the show is held November 10.

They're not being new or ethical here; bathing suit and lingerie models have always been 'healthier' than regular runway models. Many of the runway models are far too thin to show off lingerie well.

Now if only they could find models that can stand up straight when they walk...

Tyra Banks and Laetitia Casta were healthy, sexy Victoria's Secret models. (They looked healthy to me. But maybe they had eating disorders too. What do I know?) But they were exceptions back then when they were modeling for Victoria's Secret, and they'd be exceptions now.

I just wish that designers and brands would use AGE appropriate girls. How can a 15 year old wearing a stiff suit for Prada appeal to the rich white WOMAN market? I dont get it. Let them get their license and go to prom! 80's were alot more woman friendly when it came to modeling, thats for sure.

I think that is a good thing. Let's get back to the 1980's standards of size and weight. Women looked like women and not adolescence.

I would venture to guess that none of these chicks in the video made the cut.

if they disappear when they turn sideways, it's a problem.

Well, they're not as shockingly thin as the models in the first televised Victoria's Secret runway show. (I haven't watched any since then. The first show made me ill. Some of the the models looked like Auschwitz survivors.) But they're still a bit on the eat-a-friggin-sandwich-PLEASE side.

"Every girl in the world wants to be in the Victoria's Secret fashion show."

Really? Somehow I doubt that.

I'd do it - strap a big pair of feathery wings on me and I'll strut my XL stuff out there in a pretty bikini - assuming they make one big enough. I've got boobs that would take out the front row when I turned at the end of the runway!

Hey, VS...I don't care if the models are stick skinny. I want your old quality shows back (i.e. no cheesiness, no live BEP).

Yes, and so am I.
And so are those girls - and that something would be a meal or two.

They don't make anything for women other than hangers.

You can't judge a book by its cover, or its name.

That isn't necessarily true. I wore one of their tunics out yesterday and got two compliments on it (and I am most certainly not a hanger).

My girl's got to go next door to Lane Bryant. She's tall + curvy.
