I was a military brat in Munich and around the age that American kids were pestering their parents to get drivers licenses, we were glad to take the s-bahn. They were always on time and got us to al parts of the city. I even remember one school field trip where over a hundred student took the train downtown.

Glad to see Moscow in 2nd place, it deserves it.

Of course, even the worst city in Europe or Russia has better public transportation than most any place in the U.S.

In rathole Chisinau I can be anywhere in a city of almost a million in 25 minutes for 16 cents or 24 cents depending on mode of transporation

Moscow has beautiful stations.
Paris was convenient.
Japan efficient.

But Hong Kong was FUN!! The trains, the subways, the double decker bus, the tram on HK Island, the ferry, the bus system in the countryside, the light rail, and the Peak Tram. And, the taxis were great, too.

They suck next to most. Even Amsterdam's was better than any in the US, and it did not get rated at all.

Even if a US city made the list, there would be a problem. Montreal (Canada) did not make the list and it won this years award for Outstanding Public Transportation System in North America by the American Public Transportation Association.

Montreal does have outstanding public transportation. Toronto, for such a big city lacks big time.
