The New York Times:

Domino's Pizza was hurting early last year. Domestic sales had fallen, and a survey of big pizza chain customers left the company tied for the worst tasting pies.

Then help arrived from an organization called Dairy Management. It teamed up with Domino's to develop a new line of pizzas with 40 percent more cheese, and proceeded to devise and pay for a $12 million marketing campaign.

My father, who died 13 years ago at age 99, always taught us kids that 'we need to eat to live - NOT live to eat'!.

Anything in moderation is fine. I was brought up in occupied Europe on vegetables (because we could grow our own) and ate very little meat (because it wasn't available). I never saw an orange, banana or a piece of candy from 1940 to 1945, but we foraged for edible berries and  Read More...

I don't know that there is anything that is crueler than the dairy industry... What does it take to have milk and cheese? The cows must be artificially inseminated - Often a painful procedure done with clumsy, inexperienced "farm hands". Then after 9 months of carrying the calf - Once the calf is born it is taken from the mother within a day or less. Many newborn calves go straight to slaughter as "bob veal". The other males are sent to isolated confinement to become "rose veal" at 4 months old. Of course the mother too, after a short miserable life gets sent to become hamburger at only a fraction of her life span. All this - So unweaned humans can steal the milk from babies... With so many healthier plant based options for "cheeze" I just don't understand how anyone can approve of this inhumane practice to such gentle, innocent beings. Try vegan. It's not that hard and it's definitely the right thing to do! :)

I suppose one could go vegan if one likes to look like a concentration camp survivor in appearance. There's a reason humans are omnivore's.

First of all who eats pizza every day of the week? The healthy nutrition argument just doesn't pass muster here. As fare as the subsidy goes it's been my experience that the dairy industry varies from state to state. In some states the farmers would rather slaughter thier cows than sell the milk at a loss. Dairy products are important enough to provide subsidies. While I may not be a fan of Dominoes it does provide employment and is a small business franchise that brings money into thier respective communities.

Once again this is just another example of Progressive overreach. A dairy subsidy was used to help a struggling chian of pizza parlors. In some circuitous fashion this became a story about nutrition. While pizza is probably not the best source of it here is a newsflash for you fat fighters; you actually need some fat in your diet.

"Got Stock" ...in Pizza Hut or Pappa John's perhaps? I'm questioning everything, because it's all about who gets the most and best press. Ask President Obama. One thing for sure, when I read this article, it's as multi-layered as the Agiculture Department, which is has a POWERFUL lobby. It is all about who has the most money and the biggest lobby, right?

Why does government pay out billions in Medicare and Medicaid claims and then support unhealthy foods by caving to the meat and dairy lobbying firms when these efforts cause a lot more of those insurance claims? Why do hospitals feed patients three meals a day that contain unhealthy foods when these same foods cause the patient's chronic diseases in the first place? Why do health insurance companies cover medications and surgeries that don't address the real cause of 75% of the preventable illnesses that people suffer from in this country instead of covering healthy cooking classes, exercise programs, and wellness programs that would tackle the causes of these illnesses directly?

There is a huge disconnect in the general public's mind, the medical community's approach, the government's actions, and the industry's approach to solving the healthcare crisis. If medications and surgeries really worked that well then we wouldn't be getting bigger and sicker by the minute in this country. What we need is a grassroots effort to educate and implement credible information on how to eat healthy and incorporate other positive lifestyle changes to take this healthcare crisis and make it a thing of the past. That's why as a pharmacist I try and do my best to help patients understand these very things so they can get off their meds and on to a happier and healthier life. Vote with your fork to help make this happen.

Why? Because the corporate farmers have a great lobby and Democrats can never say no. Neither can Republicans.

We live is a corporate communist state which is more and more like communist China. We just have the illusion of choice.

Good ole Domino's ..a fundamental christian group....it can be daunting for those who work there. I think a litmus test is offered in some franchises. I won't go near the place.

The government subsidizes tobacco farmers, but taxes the hell out of cigarettes. Nothing much surprises me.

I've already commented about the fallacy of blaming the cheese/saturated fat for the obesity epidemic. I forgot to mention that I haven't eaten pizza, however, in 11 years, but because of the crust, not the toppings. I did for awhile eat the toppings and leave the crust, but now I'm wary of the tomato sauce since there is added sugar to most things, so I quickly gave up pizza all together. Recently, I decided to take a shortcut and buy canned tomatoes for a beanless chili, and was horrified to read the labels and find that most brands contained added sugars and HFCS. No wonder we have an obesity/health crisis in this country.

OMG. The government is wasting millions of your tax dollars on banners and new lighting at dominos and you are obsessing on added sugars? Are you kidding me? This is why I am an independent libertarian. Leftists are utterly clueless.

The Republicans support this too.
