Dan Choi announced today that he is boycotting MSNBC over the network's suspension of Keith Olbermann.

"I'm declining interviews on MSNBC and affiliates until @KeithOlbermann is reinstated," Choi wrote on his Twitter page.

Choi, an outspoken critic of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, has been a frequent guest on MSNBC shows. He announced that he is gay on Rachel Maddow's show last year.

According to Adam Green of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, MSNBC asked Choi to appear on the network on Monday, and Choi declined.

Choi also encouraged his followers to sign a petition organized by the PCCC to reinstate Olbermann. To date, close to 270,000 people have signed the petition.

Eight years active duty in the Navy--yeah, I think that makes me a vet. Unlike you, I won't call your vet status into question simply because we disagree on a political and social issue. Sorry that you dropped to such an occasion.

No more Dan Choi interviews? Oh, no; to where are we to turn for bleeding-heart horseshit?

No doubt your military service was far superior to his. Or not.

Your premise is flawed. I am not questioning the man's service. I am, however, calling attention to his grandstanding.

I'm sure that KO will go on and blabber about all of the libs that supported him, I wonder if he will take the time to acknowledge the many conservatives that came to his defense about his free speech in giving to dimocratic candidates....

I won't hold my breath......especially since he did not come to the defense of Juan William's right of free speech - I believe he called it the free market at work....or some other kind of KO dribble....

You're not "sure" of anything. And it's a good thing for you you're not holding your breath. Anyone who's paying attention how many conservatives were crowing about all of this. Trying to put a different face on it is just what Fox is famous for, so there's no surprise here in your comment/dribble...

Watch Tuesday. I think you'll be very surprised by who is thanked, and I believe that will include everyone who was supportive no matter their political affiliation. As far as drawing some sort of equivalency between Keith's political donations and Juan Williams' bigotted comments, I don't believe there is any comparison whatsoever.

What would Dan Choi do? I ask myself that question whenevr I need guidance.
06:44 PM on 11/08/2010
Well, for one, he was and trying to serve this country.. which is more than most people do..and he is standing up for what he believes in which is again more than most people do..

You were taken for a ride. The only reason Olbermann was 'suspended' was to create controversy. MSNBC did this on purpose to gain publicity and boost sagging ratings. They don't care if they are the bad guy, they want viewers to come to Olbermann's defense and support him, by, you guessed it, tuning in to his show. And judging from the comments here, it worked.

You people said it yourselves; why would MSNBC suspend him but not others? This was a total calculated move to boost ratings.

AMEN!!!!

Yet Countdown is a ratings bonanza for MSNBC every night. The only thing sagging at this point is the ratings argument which has been a Fox News' talking point since Olbermann went on the air. So go ahead and watch Bill O'Reilly and Glen Beck and Sean Hannity if you want to, and those of us who want to know what's really happening in the world will watch Keith and the rest of the MSNBC programming. Fair enough?

Thank you Mr. Choi for your service to our country. You deserve our respect.

That being said, you may have taken a step back in the respect department by not supporting the President and Democrats.

It's like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Sooooooo, let's just see what those Republicans are going to do for you. My bet is nothing but push gays further and further away from what they should rightly have.

My respect is not cheap, Mr. Choi. And it is not to be played with.

Sounds like your respect is not worth having my friend. This stupid law was put into place by democrats and yet you still want to blame republicans for it still being law. Blindly supporting one party is what is foolish my friend.

The law was put in place by Democrats in an attempt to lessen the witch hunt of gays in the military ah the time. I know. I witnssed such witch hunts leading up to the law. At that time, it almost made sense, considering what the republicans wanted, and to serve as some type of protection from what was going on. To say it's not still law because of the repubs is to show ignorance - willfull ignorance - of just who it is who is keeping the law from being done away with now.

I'm sorry, but respect works both ways, and the White House has shown very little to our gay soldiers. They have every cause to be angry.
