For the second year in a row, Dakota Fanning was honored by her fellow Campbell Hall Episcopal High School classmates as the homecoming queen. Not only is she a talented actress, but the fact that her peers aren't hating on her is pretty impressive -- she must be a total sweetheart to be voted onto court two years in a row!

Dakota -- based on every interview I've seen and despite the brutal SNL parodies -- has, since she was little more than a toddler, come across simultaneously as an old soul and a sweet one.

I became a fan with her toddler appearance in a Sci-fi miniseries that she carried on her young back. Since then, she has turned in a number of highly skillful performances. That she never received an Oscar (and that the Little Miss Sunshine girl did instead) as a child actress always astounded me. For my money, she is simply the standout child actress of all time -- though the acting challenged Shirley Temple was undeniably the cutest kid of all time (other than your kid my kid of course).

It's good to see that her personality is winning her peers as well as oldsters like myself. Thus far, she has demonstrated none of the odd behaviors that have plagued so many child actors, kids made too old too early. Maybe, my fingers are crossed, she won't have to go walk the wide path of partying, trash, and promiscuity that seems to come to the doors of child actors.

Another article refers to Dakota being in the Homecoming Court last year as a princess, not queen. So it's one year as princess, one year as Queen. The pics of her in her cheerleader uniform are from last year as Princess.

The comedian Jim Norton had a bit in a comedy routine about ten years ago. He said when he is hosting people at his house and it is getting late and there is no sign of anyone leaving, he will drop in to a conversation:

"Boy, I sure would like to &^%$ that Dakota Fanning."

I was awe struck the first time I saw this girl act. She is an amazing talent and appears to be a genuinely nice kid. Props to her parents and to her. She has a spot on my favorite actress list.

Damned be the haters. The fact is, she is an incredibly down to Earth human being and obviously liked by her fellow classmates. Fame has not ruined her integrity and for that, we thank you for not being a LiLo or a trampy Miley. Keep up the good work.

As much as I admire Fanning, the actress, I think this is completely despicable. Of course she's going to rule the roost at any high school she goes to because of who she is. Who has ever heard of anybody being voted Homecoming Queen two times in a row? And for her to even accept makes her completely gratuitous and sadly shallow.
And I'll be glad when people decide to stop overusing the word "haters". Spice it up a little and spell it "haterz". That will make you seem more..... hip!
