Jon Stewart Responds To The 'False Equivalency' Critique Of The Rally To Restore Sanity (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

We're a week past the Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear, but on last night's edition of "The Daily Show," host Jon Stewart faced the music from what looks to be the last wave of rally-scolds. See, it turns out that a lot of people are all in a twist over what they saw as a "false equivalency" between what left-leaning media types do every day and what right-leaning media types do every day. These questions were apparently entirely mooted because of that time MSNBC gave Keith Olbermann a few extra days off for violating a vague and strange rule governing political donations.

So, Stewart gave his critics some time on the show by replaying their litany of grievances. He went on to suggest that maybe everything could be settled by gathering in Washington, DC on November 13th for the Rally To Determine Precisely The Percentage Of Blame To Be Doled Out To The Left And The Right For Our Problems Because We All Know That The Only Thing That Matters Is That The Other Guys Are Worse Than We Are And/Or Fear. At some point, any one of these critics may choose to contend with the authentic critique of the rally -- that the singular excess of the modern media is the way they reflect American life in a distorted funhouse mirror -- but I wouldn't go holding my breath now, y'hear?
