Obama In Indonesia 2010 Protests (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Obama's Visit PROTESTED In Childhood Home Of Indonesia

Although President Obama's visit to Indonesia is a homecoming of sorts, he was not universally welcomed in the nation where he spent several of his formative years. A series of street protests took place in Jakarta in advance of the president's arrival early Tuesday. Many participants were students or Muslim supporters of the Indonesian section of the pan-Islamic organisation Hizbut Tahrir, while others called for the termination of the Visiting Forces Agreement or the joint military exercises that take place between the U.S. and the Philippines.

Participants carried massive banners with Indonesian slogans like, "Reject Obama," "Cancel the comprehensive relationship between the two countries," "[Obama] leader of colonialist country," and "The enemy of Islam," among others.
