CLEVELAND — An Ohio challenge to the validity of lender foreclosure documents will be heard in court early next year in Cleveland.
Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Nancy Margaret Russo scheduled a Feb. 17 hearing on the issue after meeting privately with attorneys in the case Monday.
Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray has joined a legal challenge to the validity of foreclosure documents which, for now, involve a single pending foreclosure: a home in suburban Parma.
Cordray, who sent staff attorneys to the hearing, has said companies handling foreclosure filings have done so without reviewing the documents. A similar but separate challenge was filed by Cordray last month in Toledo.
