10 Tech Titans' Lavish Homes: Zillow (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 11/10/10 03:40 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:10 PM ET

We recently learned that Steve Jobs was planning to tear down his 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival mansion and build a more modest domicile in its place. Still, the plans for the new home are striking, and the price tag ($8.45 million) is nothing to sneeze at.

On the flipside, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg says he rents his comparatiely humble house.

How large do other major players of the tech industry live?

Based on information gathered by Zillow, the online real estate provider, we've compiled a selection of tech titans' homes, from James Clark's Miami penthouse to Larry Ellison's zen-like sanctuary.

View our slideshow of 10 tech titans' homes and visit Zillow to learn more. Then, check out our slideshow of the strangest homes in America.

To the victor go the spoils. They could have just as easily failed, but they didn't. They took risks and reaped the rewards.

I wonder what would happen to those lofty windows in the first image if a hurricane striked Miami?

It's better to have a shack in a nice neighborhood than a mansion in a slum.

The rich get richer while the poor gets poorer. This is the Corporate States of America brought to us by the GOTP. Prime example why they don't want tax hikes for the rich. Think about how much those poor things have to pay for utilities for their Mega-ego mansions!

Every one of those people started their own business and built it from nothing to what it is now.

They employ tens of thousands of people with well paying jobs.

In this day and age we need more people like these...not less.

Excuse me, are those thousands of people that work for these "titans" nothing? The thousands of people did the work. Tell me just what it is these people did/do that got them all this cash without ripping it off of those thousands?

I think there is a difference between CEO's that built a tech company through innovation than a CEO at some bank or big pharma that "knows people" or was a politican that played well with lobbyist. Some people actually deserve what they have through hard work. I agree on the tax hikes though.

The only house I like is Jobs.

It appears the Steve Jobs doesn't. Since 2001, Jobs has been fighting preservationists in an attempt to tear down and replace the 30-room mansion with a more modern home (excerpt from

So sad...she can't move into the alternate California Governor's Mansion. Nancy Reagan, in her pseudo high-society snoot said the mansion was a "fire-trap." Well, now - in her final years, she may realize her hubris.

"America has always been a nation of immigrants! We get the best from around the world!"

Dont count on it any longer:
"More skilled immigrants are giving up their American dreams to pursue careers back home, raising concerns that the U.S. may lose its competitive edge in science, technology and other fields.
Wadhwa projects that in the next five years, 100,000 immigrants will go back to India and 100,000 to China, countries that have had rapid economic growth.

"For the first time in American history, we are experiencing the brain drain that other countries experienced," he says." http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-09-20-brain-drain_N.htm

Still nothing compared to Mukesh Ambanis billion-dollar home in Mumbai, India.

Ambani's home actually only really cost $70 Milllion to construct.

The $1 Billion price tag is courtesy of Mumbai's astronomical property rates and property taxes for that particular patch of land where it was constructed.

Oh, my little life seems so empty now. So meaningless.

I think I'm going to concentrate on the dream of "one day" when I can join this select group.

Also, I certainly hope that each one of these people will be getting another tax cut. God knows they deserve one. It's the least we can do to show our deep admiration for their obvious moral superiority.
