For a veteran, making the transition from military life to college life can be especially difficult. Beyond the stresses of the classroom, veterans must cope with a host of other issues, from anxiety disorders to simply feeling like they fit in. Veterans who become students after military service might have a hard time identifying themselves as anything but soldiers -- be it students, children, or members of a new group. As veteran outreach specialist Michael Volz once said, "one of the biggest things that I liked to say to veterans is, 'Don't become a professional veteran.'"
