The 1000 Journals Project

GLOBAL ART: Highlighting The Global, Collaborative 1000 Journals Project

In this "blogging age," where anyone's art can spread from one country to the next in seconds, the idea of writing letters or spreading art through the mail- a much more personal and tangible experience- seems like a thing of the past. The 1000 Journals Project is an ongoing, collaborative global art project that began in San Francisco in 2000, when 100 journals were released into the world- left at bars and cafe's, and distributed to the founder's friends. 10 years and 1000 journals later, the project has evolved into a documentary and a book, and now, an exhibit at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. This global project is open to all willing to participate; check out how to get involved on 1001 Journals.
