UPDATE: A response from Cheney's lawyer has been added to this piece below. Nigerian authorities will charge former Vice President Dick Cheney over a bribery...
Nigerians see the struggles that this nation faces today with renewed instability in the Delta, ethnic tensions in the North, corruption issues, and concerns about a successful, and transparent election in April 2011.
Many Observers of the clashes between Christians and Moslems in northern Nigeria were baffled by the fact that the Moslem leadership(majority of them way to the right of taliban .in my opinion),did not care about the economic impact their actions will have on the people. Traders who deals in goods that serve the CHRISTIAN community were run out by hired thugs. They urge their followers to boycott Christian traders even if it will increase the price of consumer goods. It turns out they are getting free money to buy things at an exorbitant prices to promote religion...SOME CASH TO BELIEVE IN ''SOMETHING''..How about cash for rational thinking?..to quote the former drill seargent'''jackwagons''

Northern Nigeria has no oil - it's all located in the Christian south. It's common knowledge that countries like Saudi and Iran provide funds to the Muslims in the northern part of Nigeria for Islamic schools, etc. There are 37 states and whenever one elects a Muslim govt, they're rewarded with millions of dollars from Saudi and the UAE . There have been clashes and killings in central Nigeria for years and that's the sort of thing the Nigerian govt. of Goodluck Jonathan wants to minimize. This is simply another case of Iran meddling in another country's affairs and getting caught. They'll just lie like they have done with everything else in the past ( i.e. Neda Soltan was shot by U.S. agents , etc.)

we meddle in their business, and that gives them the right to meddle in ours. For Iran, It's more about oil than ideology. But it's true that division of oil wealth is rather unfare, and the fact that US imports some 1.5 million barrels/day from Nigeria.

So, Saudi and Iran provide funds to the Muslim in the northern part of Nigeria for Islamic schools. I see no problem with that. But why are there weapons shipments disguised as something else? I agree that it may well have something to do with Iran meddling in other countries' affairs too. Who is the meddling against? The Nigerians? Saudi influence on Islamic education? It appears to me that Iran is seeking to establish influence first in the region, with Turkey as an alliance to reinstate some sort of Caliphate.Iran's influence in S. Lebanon and Gaza, and continuous threats towards Israel may well have nothing to do with Israel, and more with hemming in Saudi Arabia and other Sunni states. They are also quite busy in Iraq. Looks like establishing a nutcracker effect to me. What nut are they trying to crack? Let us take a look at the map and see how from Africa via Yemen and Ethiopia Iran would get access to the southern flanks of Saudi Arabia. It is exactly that kind of action which worries the U.S. and Israel. It is not about Israel. Too small to be interesting other than as a strategic launching pad. With their improved rockets and payloads they can already reach via Lebanon into Europe. they are also ensconcing themselves in S. America.

Iran doesn't fund schools abroad. That's purely a Saudi/Wahhabi thing, and Nigerians are Sunni anyway.
If iran is actually involved and this is not yet another fantasy bust, then Iran is there to counter the Saudi influence and help the muslims reorganize into an effective political/military force. Quds force is very good at this. Hezbollah, hamas and Bosnia are good examples.

They have systematically infiltrated the entire north of Nigeria where all non-Moslems have not that much say.Extermination of the entire government will mean a north south split.People are already tired of all religion and the Malams don't get it..Nigeria is sitting on a time bomb

No. Nigeria is an African country, i.e a total sh*thole with no real organization.
Iran has the resources in the intelligence agencies to decapitate the top Nigerian leadership, and carry out mid level assassinations that benefit it politically.

Iran does manufacture Nato standard rounds too. prior to last 2 or 3 rounds of sanctions, iran was exporting arms to some 50 nations including some Nato members.

Arms and ammunition are bought/sold legally/illegally by every nutcase religion and political cause on earth every day. The majority of this weaponry, both legal and illegal is made in the good ol' U.S. of A. Nobody really cares where it winds up as long as they pocket the $$. The U.S. just finalized one of the biggest arms deals in history. With our good secular friends, the Saudis. Don't kid yourself.

Sorry boy - everybody exports arms when and where they can. The Nigerian government isn't exactly a freely elected one, but a repressive one. It's no shock that an Islamic government would support an Islamic insurgency.
