Cornell Alum Donates $11M For Telescope

ITHACA, N.Y. -- A retired auto-parts businessman who graduated from Cornell University is donating $11 million to help build a galaxy-gazing telescope center in Chile.

The Ivy League school said Friday that the pledge by 1966 alumnus Frederick Young will go toward designing and building the Cerro Chajnantor Atacama (SER'-ow cha-nan-TOR' ata-CAH'-ma) Telescope in the high Andes of northern Chile.
