According to a Gallup poll, 67 percent of U.S. adults drink alcohol, with 2010 marking a 25-year high. Why are so many people drinking these days? Well, with the economy in the shitter and American citizens losing money and jobs, it seems obvious that drinking the sorrow away is the easiest and most fun method of coping with financial difficulties. The big problem: booze costs money. Add to that Chicago's high average price tag for a pint of beer, and the recession hurts that much more.
