Hipsters and nerds gathered at the DeWitt Clinton Park in New York City this weekend to battle in the Quidditch World Cup.

Seekers, Snitch Runners and Chasers from forty-six teams competed for top prize in the Harry Potter spin-off sport, Quidditch (sans flying brooms).

What exactly does 'Muggle Quidditch' look like? As one participant put it:

Everyone runs around on broomsticks, and it's a crazy combination of dodgeball, flag football, rugby and maybe basketball? It involves a bunch of different magical balls. The snitch is a tennis ball inside of a sock tucked into a snitch runner's pants.

The rest of the rules are too dense to list, so for a better look at the games, the Daily News filed this video.
