Prince William Engagement To Kate Middleton Announced On Twitter

Prince William's engagement to Kate Middleton was made official today in a rather unusual way by royal's standards: Twitter.

The news appears to have been delivered first in a 132-character tweet from the royal home the Clarence House: "The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton - www.princeofwales.gov.uk"

AOL News notes that the tweet apparently scooped the official Prince of Wales website, which was soon after updated.

It was only minutes later that the British Monarcy weighed in with a tweet: "The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are absolutely delighted at the news of Prince William and Catherine Middleton's engagement."

The engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton had long been rumored.

Oh I can explain the twitter announcement.

Some PR guy said;

"Well now four days ago 50 000 students marched on the tory headquarters and broke in, Red Alert, Red Alert, throw the plebs a bone! Look they are about to lose their opportunity to go to university but they will love to watch 30 year old rich people getting married! Lets announce it on twitter, that's what they use right?"
