Dog Adopts Baby Pig (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 11/17/10 04:49 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:10 PM ET

A dog is a... pig's best friend? That appears to be the case on this farm in Spain. According to a report on The Today Show, this two-month old piglet was headed to the slaughterhouse, but was rejected for being underweight. Sometimes rejection's not such a bad thing.

Adopted by a farmer, the little pig quickly befriended the farm's dog, Diana. Diana has now taken the pig under her doggy wing, and is caring for the piglet as if it were her own.

WATCH this dog nurse a piglet:

I have a big yellow dog (yellow Labrador). I am convinced that if only everyone could know the love of a big yellow dog, the world would be a better place.

Worked for this piglet.

Now I have to get him to give me back my half of the bed.

Aww!! Humans could learn so much about compassion and kindness from animals. You know like don't let your fellow man go hungry while you insist on a millionaire's tax cut. just sayin'.

Can the pig herd sheep?

Our mini pigs are the bosses of our mini sheep so I bet they could be taught to herd a flock.

Humans could learn a lot from animals....instead we slaughter them for consumption, destroy their natural environment, or kill them at "shelters" because we are too stupid to spay/neuter. Who is the real "animal?"

Well, I hope they don't send the pig back to slaughter once he gains a little weight. Now that they are a farmily, let piggie stay with his adopted momma.
