Eva Longoria Divorcing Tony Parker Due To Cheating: Report

UPDATE: Eva filed for divorce Wednesday morning, People reports. The papers were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

TMZ has the papers in which Eva cites "irreconcilable differences" and asks Tony for spousal support. There was reportedly a prenup.

PREVIOUSLY: On Tuesday Eva Longoria's rep shot down reports that the actress and her husband Tony Parker have filed for divorce, but multiple sources are reporting that the couple has split and Eva will file divorce papers soon.

Eva is leaving her marriage after discovering Tony has been exchanging hundreds of text messages with a mutual female friend for almost a year, Us Weekly reports.

"Eva is heartbroken by the betrayal," a source told the magazine. Another friend said, "Once the trust was lost, the marriage was over."

People reports that the woman Tony exchanged texts with is the wife of one of his San Antonio Spurs teammates.

A source tells People that Eva was "totally and completely blindsided" by the cheating reports and plans to file divorce papers as early as Wednesday.

Eva and Tony were married in Paris in 2007.

I just don't get the shock and surprise. At all. This is just like Tiger and all of the others before him. A marriage like this was a set-up for failure because of their lifestyles and expectations. He was supposed to be a husband. He wanted to be a player. Somewhere down the line, things are going to break down.

Humans are not monogamous by nature. Monogamy is a choice. 50% plus marriages end in divorce. 30% plus people cheat. Isn't it time for something new? How long are we going to follow these archaic models set forth by the Puritans and expect a new result?

Professional athletes are only married for home games - and what happens on the road stays on the road, no one talks. That's the world she married into and at one level or another she should have known it. She shouldn't be surprised, and he shouldn't balk at the split up. Next year she'll have a new guy from the entertainment industry and he'll have some new arm-candy / trophy.

I'm not defending it, but that's the way it is.

To us guys, this is just an accepted fact of life - their life not a normal guys'. Any woman who marries into the "life" has to know what's happening. For some of them it must be worth it, as long as he comes home to her . .

Story is, she isn't divorcing him for cheating. She's divorcing him because he didn't. He was allowed to have sex with women (or men I guess), but not to form an attachment. Apparently he broke that rule.

Anyone who pulls a stunt like she did (having him back off his filing and throwing it in his face the next day) after they'd been talking about it for weeks is one manipulative beeyo##ch.

I have a question: How did she find all of those text messages? Was she spying on him? Did she have spyware installed on his cellphone? I understand that what he did was wrong ... twice as wrong, considering his teammate's marriage was involved as well ... but I wonder if she had a part in this too. AND .... when she found out (whatever her means of finding out) why didn't she just keep it in the family so that the friend/teammate and The SA Spurs wouldn't have to face her same public humiliation?

Eva is divorcing him for his money. Tony should never marry. You may lose money chasing women but you will never lose women chasing money.

A man in his position has no need for state-sanctioned "sexual registration", also known as "marriage".

Marriage is best for working or middle class men who benefit from the presence of a wife. At Tony's income level I doubt there is anything Eva could actually add to his standard of living. Attractive women are a dime a dozen.

"Still live in a cave?" This is definitely and enlightened opinion. I wouldn't say all men are cheaters, most statistics have it at 22 percent of men are cheaters or don't choose to live monogamously. I would thinks it's probably a little higher. Women come in at about 14 percent and that number will likely rise as the independence and wealth of women grows. So is marriage for everyone, obviously not, so some people would be better off with different arrangements. No matter what traditions says, the facts are the facts. Let's move on.
