Everyone is gearing up for the new Harry Potter movie in New York. Last week was the Quidditch World Cup and this weekend along with the the movie's release is the NYC Wizard of Rock Festival.

What began as a hardcore Harry Potter club on Meetup.com, "The Group That Shall Not Be Named," has evolved into a dedicated group of fans that are eager to spread their love of HP. The combination of indie rock and Harry Potter geekiness inspired 2008's first Wizard of Rock Festival. This year fifteen Harry Potter bands and solo artists will be jammin' out to tunes about Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans and Lucius Malfoy at the Music Hall of Williamsburg.

The genre of "Wizard Rock" is taken quite seriously by these folks and is loosely described as music and lyrics from the point of view of the character or object from which the band gets its name. To get a sense of this weekend's entertainment, bands like "Draco and the Malfoys," "The Remus Lupins," and "The Whomping Willows" will be performing. For more information on the world of "Wiz Rock" check out the Wizrocklopedia.

All you need to do now is get out those sharpies (for your lightening bolt scar...duh) and get ready to ROCK.

The show starts at 1pm on Sunday, November 21 and tickets are available at Ticketmaster for $20 and will be available for purchase at the show for $25.

Music Hall of Williamsburg, 66 North 6th Street between Kent and Wythe Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY 11211
