Giuliana Rancic: 40 Women Have Offered To Be Surrogates For Me

Giuliana Rancic

Giuliana Rancic has publicly struggled with infertility, gaining seven pounds on doctor's orders and eventually having a miscarriage after conceiving through IVF. Now she and husband Bill are trying again for a baby and she opened up to Us Weekly about the fertility treatments she is enduring.

"Sometimes I have to get [injections] 21 days in a row, three times a day," Giuliana, 36, told the magazine. "It's a lot. But you've got to do it."

Bill injects her more than 60 times a month and while they are still intent on having a biological baby, women all over are reportedly offering up their wombs and children to the couple.

"We've gotten probably 40 women who have offered to be surrogates," Giuliana said. "And the other day I got an email saying, 'My niece is having a baby, and she's giving it up for adoption and we'd like to give it up to you."

During their recent break from IVF, the couple took a romantic retreat to the desert, Popeater reported.

Giuliana told the website that a break from "worrying about shots, doctor's visits, ultrasounds and blood tests was just what the doctor ordered" but she is ready to give it all another go.

"We're ready to try again and we feel more optimistic than ever that we will have good news in the New Year. 2011 is our year," Bill said.

Having an eating disorder is God's way of saying, you're not ready to take care of a child, if you don't even have enough sense to take care of your own body. next.

Why is it that fertility brings out the worst in female commentators? Some say she is selfish for not adopting. Others that she should "take the celestial hint" and just give up (I suspect these women either have children or don't want them). Most of the rest criticize her appearance. Sometimes I think women are women's worst enemy. Have a little compassion. There is no more elemental desire than to have children, and it is always a tragedy for the woman who is unable to realize that dream in the manner she had hoped for.

A desire to have children should be just that. She should adopt a child in need. I don't see how it would be a tragedy to not give birth. Getting pregnant is not like going to the prom. It should be about the human beings you allow into your heart and home. I see way too many couples try to get pregnant at any cost when they have the means to adopt and I think it's beyond silly. Pregnancy should not be a way for a woman to validate her femininity and for a man to prove his virility. Parenting is not about passing on genes, but rather instilling a set of values in a human being who you hope will contribute to the world.

She needs to gain 20 lbs and lose the neurosis.

This is an excerpt from her blog explaining her daily diet. Not only is it painstakingly detailed, it's also full of psychotic neurosis about food (she calls sugar "the devil"). Oh and coffee cause it makes you "retain fat".

Not suprising that she can't concieve, just looking at her picture (where you can see the details of her shoulder joints) gives the average person all the information they need to know.

as someone that has suffered from eating disorders since I was a young girl what gave it away for me(other than her pic) was when she said she gained, 7 pounds. Not 5, not 10, but 7. That is the rationale of someone with an eating disorder. I am highly suspect that the DR told her..."OK, well I want you to gain 7 lbs.." he probably told her she needed to gain weight and that was what she was able to live with.

Exactly,
She definatly does not have the body proportions of a naturally thin person, she has a wasted away look where her joints stick out & there is a sunken appearance to the space between her shoulder & elbow.
Her obvious eating disorder is something that she should get over before she consideres bringing children into her life, whether adopted or not.

I thought about this actually just this week about why so many female celebrities are having issues conceiving, and of course there are medical reasons but I think most are because just too thin to conceive, then this article came out. Glad to see so many others feel the same way! How disturbing it is for them to try to not gain weight during pregnancy and lose all the weight in weeks after birth is just NOT NORMAL and NOT HEALTHY. Thankfully most men I know prefer a woman who is not anorexic looking, I just wish younger women knew that.

age has a Big factor in this as well. lots of these gals in Hollywood having babies are in their late 30's and early 40's. we are born with all the eggs we will ever have, and by the time of puberty only about 300,000 remain. after 30 those eggs are become harder and harder to fertilize. it's nature, pure and simple. so is weighing enough to bear a child. The trigger for when a young girl starts to menstruate is when her body gets the signal that she has enough fat (normally that is 90 lbs for an average sized girl) to carry a child.

Don't forget the drinking and the diet pills. How is it that women in industrialized nations have more problems conceiving when 50 year old women from so-called 3rd world countries give birth all the time? Health habits perhaps?

People who are Anti-Choice are always going on about how all those unwanted babies can be adopted. Meanwhile, Giuliana and Bill are spending a fortune trying to get pregnant. How much better to adopt (and have a child already), and donate some of that money to support for unwed mothers? Many couples who adopt find that they stop worrying about it as they have just done a wonderful thing for a child who becomes as precious to them as a biological child.

All babies need nutrition to survive, and she can't even convince anyone she is healthy. She's clearly anorexic and a baby needs fat and vitamins, and cannot live inside a womb surround only by bones. She should gain at least 50 lbs before she should think about carrying a child. She'll never gain that kind of weight, so a suurogate mother is a good choice if she wants to be a mother.
Otherwise, she'll keep innocent babies from living a life they deserve because they keep dying before they are supposed to be born.

Well, her husband may be injecting her, but if he isn't "injecting" her, she doesn't have a chance. Has anyone explained it to her?

Besides...too emmaciated to get pregnant.

Well, she doesn't 'gotta do it'...Maybe she simply can't have babies. Big deal.

I hate all this bullsh1t. She needs to put on at least two stone in order to have any hope of being fertile. She should be ashamed of herself and her husband should get her some counselling to deal with what is a psychopathic eating disorder.

I really feel like they should stop putting themselves thur the emotional torture and the toll on her body, and simply accept the fact that as unfortunate as it is they can not conceive naturally and/or she can not carry a baby to term. It happens and is nothing to be ashamed of. Instead why not focus positive energy and finances towards loving and bringing up one of the many thousands of children available for adoption? To me it is selfish at a certain point to keep doing this. I wish people would remember we are not perfect, hence a perfect exisitance or having this "fantasy, perfect" life is not possible. We all have our burdens to bear.

I agree. Sometimes in life we have to come to terms with things, even ones as painful as not being able to bear a child. Putting herself, and her husband through those grueling fertility treatments at some point have to end.
