'Harmony': Prince Charles Of Wales' New Environmental Film Is A Call For Action (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 11/19/2010 7:02 am Updated: 04/ 4/2012 6:09 pm

This Friday, a new call for environmental action will take place. NBC will be premiering the documentary "Harmony: A New Way of Looking at Our World." The film is narrated by environmental activist Prince Charles of Wales. Capturing scenes from around the world, the film travels from organic farms to rainforests, and even features rare footage of a 1988 interview with Al Gore.

The film is directed by Stuart Sender, who also directed the Oscar-nominated film "Prisoner of Paradise." He produced the film with his wife, Julie Bergman Sender. They believe that the best thing to do is not go back to nature so much as move "forward with nature." The producers found strength in the Prince -- he made sure that the film was not so much about him, as it was about the principles that he cherishes.

Ultimately, this film is a call for not just a nation, but the entire world to unite. As Prince Charles says, "Our children and grandchildren will ask not what our generation said, but what it did. So let us give an answer for which we can be proud."

"Harmony: A New Way of Looking at Our World," airs November 19th on NBC. Visit TheHarmonyMovie.com for more information.

I like this quote from this article: "Ultimately, this film is a call for not just a nation, but the entire world to unite. As Prince Charles says, 'Our children and grandchildren will ask not what our generation said, but what it did. So let us give an answer for which we can be proud.'"

This is the basis on which our civilization's success or failure will be founded. In my opinion, the underpinnings of success will be based on a paradigm shift in our relationship and behavior patterns relative to water on a global scale.

This is the truth in one of the steps of our evolution if our civilization is to survive.

I just watched the film which is beautifully done by Charles. This has been a passion of his for many years and he IS serious about. I watched his documentary, Earth in Balance many years ago on PBS and taped it. He's also a vegetarian to further his deep passion.

This film was very well done. I am very impressed with Charles and his work.

Charles is an icon to his eco-followers...both of them.

I was extremely impressed with the prince's passion and resolve. He has put his money, energy and work into trying to stop the inevitable destruction of our only home, planet Earth. Clearly a modest and shy man, he puts his reluctance to be interviewed aside to wake us up to the pending disaster.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film, and how Charles has "lived" his ideals. Even simple changes made slowly will make a difference.

I truly get the realization that everything and everybody is quite connected, but how to communicate this and transform it into actionable results to those that keep trying to divide
and deny seems to be the challenge! So much has to be "undone" and transformed. It is difficult not to wallow in the fact that the fundamental lifegiving and sustaining elements of our planet have been so corrupted. It is also refreshing, that at someone with the reach and influence such as Prince Charles, seems to also get it. Peace

I caught this show last night, thought it would be dull and dry and instead, found it uplifting and inspiring. I highly recommend it to anyone who cares about saving the planet from our abuse and excess.
There are certainly few of us with the resources to commit to major large scale projects, as Charles has done, but he also demonstrates that each and every one of us can do something on a smaller scale. I was very impressed with both his extensive knowledge and his humility.

I'm for simple sustainable solutions;yet "saving the planet" like "climate change" do a poor job at realistically defining our challenge right now.

Climate Change made perfect sense until Madison Avenue was paid to demonize the idea and it's messengers.

That was one of the best things I have seen on American Television in a very long time. I found the interview and documentary very interesting and though provoking. As for the critics, he has serious security problems and has to travel privately. He does, however, try to off set his carbon foot print with green causes that have been very effective toward helping to heal the environment.

I loved the film and believe what it says is the truth. His farm works along these principles and for the person here who says he has no job, well he is making millions from his farm products (besides a lot of other work he does). As for traveling in planes, as he says in "Harmony", there is no other option at this time, and that is precisely why we (big businesses in particualr that rely on fossil fuels) must create alternatives so we do have other options. As the film showed, there are many businesses that don't know where the product they buy comes from and the impact it has had on our Earth. We everyday people can pay attention to these things and change what products we use if we can and/or we can use our voices to create change. We do not have to sit buy and watch our Earth be destroyed.

For all of those grumpy people that don't want to be lectured by a Prince. The Old Aristocracy is very conscious of lineage and succession. Perhaps Prince Charles doesn't want his heirs to inherit a bleak world. Perhaps he wants his children and grandchildren to be able to enjoy their privileges.

you missed the point
04:32 PM on 11/20/2010
Well maybe I just didn't make my point very well. My point is this. He actually cares about his children and grandchildren's future. The profit from pollution people and their followers don't.

I'm all for the film and Prince Charles' efforts. We all make personal lifestyle choices every day...in the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the car we drive, the places we choose to go on vacation, etc. Whether you're the soccer Mom next door or Madonna, we all have the ability to make more sustainable personal lifestyle choices. No one is perfect, so yeah, Prince Charles probably does have a larger footprint that most of us...but he is aware of it, concerned about it, and trying to do something to improve it. If he inspires more people around the world to live more sustainably than his efforts have been successful and we all stand to benefit from it.
