Sarah Palin Book Excerpts Must Be Removed From Gawker, Judge Rules

NEW YORK — A federal judge on Saturday ordered Gawker Media to pull leaked pages of Sarah Palin's forthcoming book "America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag" from its blog.

The injunction prohibits Gawker from "continuing to distribute, publish or otherwise transmit pages from the book" pending a hearing on Nov. 30.

A quick search of Gawker showed that by Saturday evening, the excerpts had been removed. The original post yields a dead link:

HarperCollins Publishers had sued Gawker after it published images on Nov. 17 from Palin's book before its release next week.

In response, Palin tweeted, "Isn't that illegal?"

Gawker defended its action in a post Thursday titled "Sarah Palin is Mad at Us for Leaking Pages From Her Book" and addressed a message to "Sarah" telling her to read pages about fair use under copyright law. "Or skip the totally boring reading and call one of your lawyers," the post said. "They'll walk you through it."

HarperCollins filed a legal complaint Friday in federal court asking that the site be banned from what it termed "further copyright infringement."

Gawker Media LLC couldn't immediately be reached for comment Saturday but appeared to have removed the images from its site.

The blog was not the first site to publish excerpts from the book, which has been billed as a tribute to American values, but it refused to take them down after receiving a letter demanding that it do so, the lawsuit said. The Associated Press bought a copy of the book ahead of its Nov. 23 release date.

In it, Palin praises Simon Cowell and the movies "Juno," "Knocked Up" and "40-Year-Old Virgin." She accuses President Barack Obama of reflecting "a stark lack of faith in the American people."

Palin's first book, the memoir "Going Rogue," has sold more than 2 million copies.

I am wondering how come everyone is writing books Obama, Bush and now Sarah Palin ?
After watching her speak during the elections, I have my doubts she can write..

Some people really know how to constantly get attention..too much drama..

This info wouldn't have made huffpost if it wasn't about SP. This is as "who cares" worthy as Bristol Palin's Dancing with the Starts upset.

One day soon I hope I can look at a Palin related site and see 0 comments and 0 pending,Then I will sleep better at night. And then I will know my fellow citizens have regained their sanity and will be using their minds for things much more productive.

Great article by David Frum, former Bush speechwriter. Looks like the party is working behind the scenes to stop her as well.

Ouch!

Politicians love to present a narrative in which they and their band of outsiders battle an entrenched party establishment. In most cases, the stories are self-serving myths: party establishments are far less entrenched than they used to be, and the insurgents usually hold paid-up memberships in the party establishment themselves. See eg Howard Dean, career of.

But in Palin’s case, the myth rings true. There really is a GOP party establishment. That establishment took up Palin as a useful tool in 2008, deployed Palin as an edged anti-Obama weapon in 2009 – and is now horrified to see that they may have set in motion a force possibly too powerful to halt when its time has ended. The story of the behind-the-scenes struggle to squelch Palin – and her ferocious determination not to be squelched – will be the big GOP-side story of the coming year.

Sarah Palin's Mystery Research Firm

Why's an incendiary Dutch journalist on the payroll of the ex-Alaska governor's political action committee? A Mother Jones investigation.

"Why would Palin want to consult with an incendiary journo rather than a nobel prize winner on matters of the economy?" Says it all. She's more at home with the incendiary types. Would have LOVED adolph don't ya know? Hey Palin! Busted!!

Palingates blog published actual scanned photos of Pain's book BEFORE Gawker published a single word of it.

Palingates continues to do so, with their own commentary and analysis of her attacks on Hollywood, Obama's etc.

Why hasn't Palin's publisher gone after them and, WHY hasn't Palin mentioned them?

Websites which linked to this Palingates post:

Geoffrey Dunn at Huffington Post

Mark Halperin, TIME

New York Daily News

Politico

The Reid Report

The New York Times

The Midnight Review

Rumproast

CBS News

The Immoral Minority

The Mudflats

ABC News

Politicususa

The Daily Beast

Why hasn't Palin mentioned them?

Because Palingates is VERY thorough and well researched; providing documentation, including video footage, that shines a bright light on Palin's lies and hypocrisy.

They have also ASKED for Palin to sue them, because they have the same good research on her "wild ride" delivery of and faked pregnancy of Trig.

They continue to ask Palin to do what she can to "take down" their website and STILL not a peep from her.

All Palin DOES is malevolent sniping at real or imagined enemies, real or imagined slights.

She is FOREVER the victim of some person or persons, from McCain's campaign staff, to Katie Couric, and in her paranoid mind, the ENTIRE "lame stream media"

The ONLY reason that she doesn't DARE mention Palingates, attempt to sue them or put their blog out of business, is BECAUSE she would have to PROVE what they are saying is not true.

Andrew Sullivan comments about babygate again!

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2010/11/quot-5.html

All I have aired is my honest skepticism - shared by more in Washington than you would believe from the public record - about her ludicrously tall story about her seventh pregnancy and fifth delivery. All I have asked for - since the weekend Palin was unveiled by McCain - is a simple and readily available medical record that could end this legitimate line of inquiry for good and all. The Anchorage Daily News attempted to clear this up as well, to no avail and an email meltdown from Palin. Palin has offered none, despite having claimed in public to have released the birth certificate. No one should feel sorry for a public figure asked merely to substantiate a story that is, on its face, incredible. One should only feel contempt for journalists who have collectively refused to ask, been too afraid to inquire, and declined to investigate further.
