The Guardian:

Writers Philip Pullman, Kate Mosse and Will Self have criticised government cuts that could see up to a quarter of librarians lose their jobs over the next year. Widespread library closures are expected as councils cut their services and look to volunteers in an attempt to balance budgets hit by the coalition's spending review.

I am OK with the loss of brick-and-mortar book stores .
But closing libraries is a catastrophe of great dimensions. Libraries and public ( not the British version of public schools) education have been the primary engines of democratization of knowledge and progress in the modern Western civilization.

My local library has seen staff, hours, and days cut over the past few years. So at least in my case (in the U. S.), what the article is saying is nothing new. We've seen hours reduced, experienced librarians replaced with unpaid and untrained volunteers, and entire days when the library is closed. It's sad that state budget cuts have left the libraries high and dry.

That's a library with many empty shelves and one customer in a Halloween costume? Loool! :)

We recycle books and paper for Library systems, we both love and hate our job. We love saving Libraries money by reducing or eliminating recycling costs, We love creating the first closed loop, recycled products distribution system, to reduce the costs of tissue and paper for libraries, We hate that libraries and library systems are shrinking....
