Sarah Silverman's Thanksgiving Memories Animated (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/22/10 01:29 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

Just in time for the holiday, Sarah Silverman shares with us her most memorable Thanksgiving as a child, animated by Sascha Ciezata for Funny Or Die. In "Sarah Silverman's Thanksgiving Special," you can listen to Silverman tell of a brisk November day where she picked out her very own turkey with her father on a farm in New Hampshire.

It's an adorable story, save for the part where she was traumatized for life when the turkey was beheaded right before her eyes. You can also hear Silverman's father's version of the story, which differs in nearly every way (except for the traumatizing part). But really, what good are holidays if not for irreparable emotional scarring?

As I sit here stuffed on turkey leftovers I can only say, she's right about Thanksgiving.

She would be more famous if she changed her last name.

I can take Silverman in limited doses, but her *I'm a dippy, neurotic mess* shtick has worn a bit thin. She could use something new.

History is written by the victors. Families have no victors, so multiple histories can sound completely different from each other. Rashoman in action.

Funny stuff! I was expecting the dad to say she had it all wrong and he never exposed her to anything as awful as that. Sure enough, he says she remembered it entirely wrong, but his version of what happened is even more traumatic and lacking in parental judgment than her version. With a father like that, we might all have turned out to be Sarah Silvermans -- especially if our fathers had been willing to play along with the joke.

Because she is funny?

She lives in a perpetual state of immaturity, and people just LOVE that. She's a 40 year old kid.

do you understand that this is a character? her job is to be funny, and she does it well. if that means acting immature then so be it. shes immature but your uptight.

Well, at least Sarah Silverman's turkey-slaughter was animated, unlike Sarah Palin's.
