Michelle Obama Wears Orange In Florida (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 11/23/10 09:03 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

First Lady Michelle Obama met students at Riverside Elementary School in Miami on Monday -- and what better color to wear in Florida than orange?

She donned a bright pantsuit, a striped blouse by Jean Paul Gaultier and a pin by Hattie Carnegie (thanks, Mrs. O!).

Take a look at pictures of the First Lady's ensemble -- and scroll down for a bigger view.

Mrs. O also attended a DNC fundraiser in Palm Beach that same night. So this way the trip gets paid for by the taxpayers instead of the DNC..Pretty clever..

Orange you glad Sarah Palin didn't wear this disaster? She would be ripped to pieces if she were seen in this outfit, but since it's the First Lady wearing it, it's the most gorgeous thing ever.

How is it a disaster? The podium blocks the suit in the large photo, but what I can see looks good.  FYI: The occasion was to announce the launching of 6,000 salad bars in schools over the next three years. Let's celebrate that!

Bible Spice's inner-ugliness inevitably seeps through, the miasmic stench causing those near wretch diatribes with utter helpless abandon. (I.e., clothes have nothing to do with it.)

(I'm not often prone to hero-worship or adulation, but she certainly would be a reasonable object of either. :)

Very few can pull off orange attire, but Mrs. Obama is one of those who does so successfully. You can tell by the way the color flatters her skin tone and illuminates her. It's also a bright, cheerful, attention-getting color, which is helpful in commanding children's attention.

Good for her for gravitating toward a bold, solid color this time rather than a print or a wrinkly fashion. And kudos to her for promoting the Let's Move program! I enjoy seeing her working with, and speaking to, children, which she's very good at. The kids I've seen her with on film are always enjoying the interaction and responding to her positively.

Michelle looks nice. But it's strange that all through the presentation the kids are just sitting around. C'mon teachers, it's a "Let's Move" program!!

The First Lady is BEAU-TI-FUL, simply beautiful. She is the epitome of everything the special on BET (first broadcast Nov 7th), "BLACK GIRLS ROCK", presented.

Looks like she's trying for a retro look from around 1965?

The silk flower pin is from the '60s, but the Jean Paul Gaultier suit and blouse are definitely not vintage.

Here's a link to a blog entry about Hattie Carnegie.

Orange is a color that I used to loathe until I saw some nice matches of orange and purple or orange and brown. But even then, it's not easy. You can't be too pale and you can't be too dark either.
