Oil Spill Found On Shrimp Seafood In Newly Opened Gulf Waters (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 11/23/10 12:23 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

Tar Balls. Not quite as appetizing a shrimp side dish as cocktail sauce. But according to FOX 10 News, that's just what the shrimp boat Our Mother caught in its net this past week - enough tar balls to ruin thousands of dollars worth of shrimp.

The boat was trawling in newly re-opened waters north of the Deepwater Horizon well site when it hauled tar balls in with its shrimp. Due to this boat's disturbing catch, NOAA (The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) will perform trawls in the same area, and probably sample the shrimp for seafood safety. Based on their findings, the NOAA may consider re-closing the area. In the meantime, piles of shrimp sit spoiled on a nearby dock.

Why are people acting surprised that there is still oil in the gulf? Did anyone really think the over 3 million gallons leaked wouldn't still be present in the Gulf 6 months later?

Millions of gallons of oil seeps naturally into the gulf every year and its been doing it for millions of years.

Yet another HP misleading headline

"WATCH: Gulf Fishing Boat Hauls In Oil-Covered Shrimp From Newly Opened Waters"

From the original news report

John Stein, the director of NOAA's seafood safety program, said inspectors at a Pascagoula, Miss., laboratory, where Gulf seafood has been tested since the spill, found no evidence of oil on the shrimp the Alabama fisherman hauled in with the tar balls.
"There was no odor of oil on the shrimp," Stein said." AP Nov. 24

But hey. We all know better (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more)

Pre-blackened shrimp, a popular new Cajun recipe.

Boy that is one large tarball. Must have displaced over 4 shrimp in the trawl.

How many more were in the trawl? And is it Macondo-sourced?

Well, it's clearly all a lie since it's a Fox affiliate.

Besides, you can throw these shrimp right into the pan without olive oil.

Oh, it's that new Cajun specialty - blackened Gulf shrimp!

Can't wait for Darryl Issa to do away with the EPA....once that over-regulating agency is no more....the free market will prevent catastrophes like this from happening again.....

Because the EPA has done such a good job of preventing disasters like this.

Well once the EPA is gone, the hope is that you will never hear of them again ... if you don't know it never happened.

Will they be studying those of us that live along ght gulf for the next 50 years?

So the Republicans administered the EPA into the ground and rather than fix the problem, you think shutting it down and having no agency would somehow solve pollution problems better.

the EPA just gets in the way of corporate profits, who needs them. if the corporation's bottom line is healthy, i'm happy. can anyone tell me how issa got so rich? read this:
On December 28, 1979, Issa and his brother allegedly faked the theft of Issa's Mercedes Benz sedan. Issa and his brother were charged for grand theft auto, but the case was dropped by prosecutors for lack of evidence. Later, Issa and his brother were charged for misdemeanors, but that case was not pursued by prosecutors. Issa accused his brother of stealing the car, and said that the experience with his brother was the reason he went into the car alarm business.[6][7] HE SHOULD RUN FOR PRESIDENT!
