November 24, 2010 In Los Angeles: Holiday Cheer

It's the day before Thanksgiving, and hopefully you're home from work and the kids are home from school. Get everyone out of the house (and out of the cook's hair) with a trip to the Santa Monica ice rink. You can also sneak a little culture in with a free Thanksgiving concert by the Jr. Philharmonic Orchestra or a performance of The Nutcracker at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater.

Giving back gets fun tonight at the annual Thanks Givends, the Thanksgiving eve benefit that brings together talent from all over Los Angeles to celebrate the season and raise funds for youth-focused nonprofits that help keep art on kids' minds. This year's party is bigger than before, and it still goes late. Good thing, too, with DJs Peanut Butter Wolf, Raul Campos, and Jeremy Sole just a few names on the lineup. - Amanda Moshier at Flavorpill
