Sarah Palin's North Korea Slip: 'We've Gotta Stand With Our North Korean Allies' (AUDIO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 11/24/10 03:02 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

Sarah Palin North Korea

Sarah Palin took a break from her book tour Wednesday to call into Glenn Beck's radio show and weigh in on the recent shelling of a South Korean island by the North Korean military. Unfortunately, a verbal slip-up caused her to urge the U.S. to support an unexpected country.

"But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies. We're bound to by treaty," Palin said in her analysis, before being corrected by the show's co-host. "Yeah," Palin continued. "And we're also bound by prudence to stand with our South Korean allies, yes."

To be fair, the mistake appeared to be a case of a verbal stumble -- not actual confusion about which country she was supposed to support.

Earlier, Palin described the situation, saying, "This is stemming from, I think, a greater problem when we're all sitting around asking 'Oh no, what are we gonna do,' and we're not having a lot of faith that the White House is gonna come out with a strong enough policy to sanction what it is that North Korea's gonna do."

Sarah Palin scares me! We need to make sure she doesn't get anywhere near the White House!

"To be fair, the mistake appeared to be a case of a verbal stumble -- not actual confusion about which country she was supposed to support."

My only problem with this is that she has these little "verbal stumbles" ALL THE TIME. A slip up or two can be forgiven and forgotten quite easily...but when the media is covering your little slip ups every time you do an interview, there's a problem.

Examples?

I know, I know. You don't need evidence to back up your beliefs. You know it in your heart and the to heck with facts.

Here let me help with some quotes...

"I've now been in 57 states -- I think one left to go."

"The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system."

"Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel's. It will be a strong friend of Israel's under a McCain...administration..."

"In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died -- an entire town destroyed."
"What I was suggesting -- you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith..."

I believe we could say the same about some other famous people such as Barack Obama. This would explain why he went out and pushed hard to spend about $800 Billion dollars we don't have on "Stimulus" that did nothing of what he promised it would do.

It appears we can't trust what any of them say.

Lying is the nature of politicians, lying to people on behalf of powerful forces is their work. Obama is a great speaker, but he is still a politician, his speech inspired me so much that there was an moment I was that close to believe somewhere in this world that things could be different until he decided to break his first promise by sending more troops to Irag instead of bringing them home.
I can understand you as an american feel disappointed for broken promises or being lied to, but Obama is not one to blame, he simply can not fight against those powerful forces, bankers, oil monopolies, those who own this planet created this system, their interests has got nothing to do with ordinary people, they ship your job overseas because they do not want to pay you that much, even recession could not stop rich from getting richer. This is a nasty world, do not be naive, you want to have someone you can trust, get yourself a dog.
Maybe this will make you feel better, if you look into the bright side of your politicians that they truely do the work to the best of their ability to make those lies as sweet as possible, they at least respect you and do care your feelings because they need your votes. In my country China, those politicians, they do not even bother to lie.

Hey Republicans - you must be excited about Palin accidentally "nuking" the US - if she can't tell friend from foe - the heartland will be the first to go!

our current POTUS's gaffes... All of you slamming Palin - If you are consistent, you would feel the same way about him

My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that…

Yeah, one's an understandable faux paux - the other (Palin) honestly DOESN'T KNOW.

If YOU were consistent, Eric, YOU would feel the same way about them. The fact is that intelligent people have plenty of reason to question Palin's competence, and this gaffe is just one small addition.

I am reassured that the White House is not going to sanction what North Korea does. I stand with the President against both North Korea and Sarah Palin.

Poor grammar, gaffes, slips are all examples of being human, being in the heat of the moment. To make a big deal over this is absurd.

Here's a couple of examples (out of many) that perhaps a few folks should think about before slamming Palin:

Shouldn't the POTUS or the potentials be better than that? I know all POTUS's have had their slips, but Sarah has had so many slips of confirmed pure ignorance that she should be discounted an a potential POTUS. No?

Given the history of both, Obama's unquestionable education and eloquence and Palin's irrefutable ignorance and idiocy, logic and reason allow us to presume one made a gaffe and the other most likely does not know what they are talking about. But one must respect logic and reason to appreciate this explanation.

Maybe $arah should quit talking politics, take her millions of dollars and be a mother to her kids. One teenage mom, another one soon to be, eldest son in the armed forces because of vandalism... seems to be that $arah should tend to her own house, cuz it ain't gonna last much longer at the rate it is going, don'tcha know?

Even if one allows for a "slip of the tongue," she still doesn't offer any solutions beyond "We gotta do somethin' cuz, ya know, that Obama isn't doin' nuthin'...blah, blah, blah."

How is that "fuzzy wuzzy" logic working out for ya, Ms. P???

You betcha!

Truthfully, this is just a delightful faux pas on the behalf of Sarah Palin. But what needs to be paid attention to, is not a slip of the tongue, but how Ms Palin instantly gravitates towards the specter of war. War means people murdering each other. School children being blown apart or incinerated. Old people being mowed down in the streets by machine-gun fire. Young boys in battle finding to their astonishment that they're lost the lower halves of their bodies. Mothers holding their infants in their arms as they spurt blood into their faces. The men in the family being forced to watch as their daughters and wives are gang raped and then the women forced to watch their men being skinned alive. That, and more, is the flame that attracts the Sarah Palin butterfly. It matters not with whom she "stands".

I frequently wonder whether Sarah and her fellow the Tea Party darlings lack real empathy with other people or have any guilt or remorse about what they say.

Wonder no longer. S Palin has a brain disorder that renders her disconnected not just from the suffering of fellow humans but from reality itself. This is why she could become president.
