The holiday itself is a great opportunity for some pleasant recreation. Get outdoors with your clan for a walk, or hike, or game of football. The food will taste even better if you do.

Is it just me or are at least 3 of these "tips" redundant (play football/talk a walk AND play a game AND go for a stroll AND keep up your fitness routine). Ok got it. If you only have 5 tips, fine but stop telling me about the pumpkin pie already.

I like the fact that somebody else mentioned the health benefits of an attitude of gratitude. I just published an article on this too as my tribute to the Thanksgiving holiday - http://pursueahealthyyou.blogspot.com/2010/11/being-thankful-means-being-healthy.html.

Surprised that none of the Thanksgiving Health Tips are about food safety! With a house full of cooks and guests it is important to be reminded of the basics of Clean, Separate, Cook and Chill. For food safety and quality, use a food thermometer to ensure that your turkey (165 degrees) and other foods reach a safe internal temperature to kill foodborne bacteria. Home food safety advice including details on turkey thawing and preparation at www.holidayfoodsafety.org.

Thank you. I live in the deep, hot south and am a dragon about that stuff. Maybe you'll spare somebody's weekend! Happy Thanksgiving!
