Indiana Football Team Spoofs 'Glee' Dance To Win Money For School

First Posted: 11/25/10 12:54 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

A high school football team took a page out of the "Glee" playbook when they shook it to Beyonce to win their school some cash.

The Decatur Central High School team in Central Indiana spoofed a scene from the show where the football team dances to "Put a Ring on it" and submitted a video of their dance to a local video competition, WXIN reports.

The video was presented at the Marsh Hoosier Classic at Lucas Oil stadium where it won the school $300, but the school brought home more than just money. [Quarterback Brandon] Ledford says, "We were on a two game losing streak. After that week we went Lucas Oil and our video was played and we went on a three game winning streak."

How can Same-sex marriage STILL not be legal in this country? Everyday it seems like the cooler thing for straight or "manly" men to do is to act as gay as humanly possible. Seriously, this is the kind of stuff we do in the club; and everywhere I look in life and mainstream media is straight and "manly" dudes act increasingly more gay (manscaping, body tans, plucked eyebrows, drag performances). At some point dudes, it's just gay.

Maybe they would've won more games by focusing on the games instead of preparing for this. Once they were done they went on a winning streak. And for $300??? Do a car wash or sell candy bars during school.

I don't know anything about Glee, but Justin Timberlake on SNL did a great bit with the real Beyonce that seems more like the inspiration for this.

I remember that skit. Hilarious! Exceptionally well made. Of course, it was helped by the fact Beyonce and Timberlake performed.

For me (strictly): I'm discovering a fine line between effective parody (Timberlake / Beyonce), versus the "ick factor" - and one distinguishing factor between the two, oddly, may have a lot to do with talent and execution.

Glad these kids had fun with it and took a risk, though. That counts. On that basis, the kids truly score.

Fun! good for them. I love when people can do stuff that doesn't seem to fit their image. This reminded me of those American soldiers in either Iraq or Afghanistan who made the video dancing to the Lady Gaga tune, "Telephone."

Glee is making musical theatre acceptable to the general public - that can only be good for us as a nation.

this was not a "spoof." it was a knock-off. and rather derivative. glad that the kids had a good time and everyone liked it, but if one were being honest, no great shakes.
