The 9 Most Annoying Christmas Songs (VIDEOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 11/29/10 12:32 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

For many of us, the transition between Thanksgiving and Christmas signals one thing and one thing only: a month's worth of inescapable Christmas music. After a couple weeks, it becomes apparent that there are only about twenty different Christmas songs, covered and rearranged ad nauseum. Every now and then we're treated to a tune that conjures feelings true to the season, but for every "Fairytale Of New York" or Vince Guaraldi Trio classic, there are spades of cringe-worthy tracks that radio programmers insist on spinning over and over and over. Here are some examples of songs whose depletion would make our Christmases much merrier. Vote for the one that ruins your holiday the worst!

"Happy Christmas" is the worst. He rhymes "For black and for white" with "let's stop all the fight" and "Happy New Year" with "without any fear." UGH. NARM.

That list is missing Barbara Streisand's version of Jingle Bells.

What a bunch of Grinches! Seriously it must be my age, but I love the Boss's version of Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. And any time he turns around is an added bonus :)

Wow, you missed the absolute, by far worst goddamn Christmas song in history — Deck the Halls.

I want to punch a baby and kick a puppy every time this is played in a TV commercial, which is like every DAMN COMMERCIAL because they won't play songs that actually contain the word "Christmas" so we're limited to this one and Jingle Bells.

All Christmas songs are annoying to me, but these are definitely the worst!

The excruciating "12 Days of Christmas" - by anyone - just has to make the list.

I might exclude Cheech and Chong's version.

I completely agree with the Paul McCartney song. I think you missed John Lennon -- Happy Christmas (War Is Over) which nearly sends me over a cliff every time I hear it. I realize that he's dead, but it doesn't make this song any less annoying.

Children roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your butts
Yuletime songs being ruined by a choir
And folks all rushing like they're nuts.

Yes we're all in ruts
These turkeys with their Christmas songs
Help to make the season blight
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Still let us know that it's allright.
