'Civil Unions: A Love Story' Advocates For Gay Marriage With Humor (VIDEO)

WATCH: Why Civil Unions Aren't The Same As Gay Marriage

In the great gay marriage debate, civil unions are often brought up as an alternative for gay couples who want to make a lifelong commitment despite the laws being against them, but is it really the same? Elisa Zuritsky (former producer of "Sex & the City") doesn't think so, and made this funny video addressing the absurdity of civil unions standing in for gay marriage.

Watch a slew of testimonials from heterosexuals describing their dreams of a big "civil union" with lots of family around and the moment the love of their life proposed civil union to them. They even list their favorite civil union movies, including "Civil Union Crashers" and "My Big, Fat, Greek Civil Union." The video's advocacy of gay rights is summed up well in the YouTube description:

"Because, at the end of the day, gay couples deserve to be just as naive, corny, impetuous, bitter and f***d up about marriage as straight couples are."
