"Community" star Joel McHale went on "Conan" Wednesday night and brought his usual snark and love of mocking television with him. One of the first things Conan O'Brien had to hear from McHale was how he got away with making fun of Regis Philbin so badly when he appeared on "Live!" last week. McHale said he just couldn't think of what to talk about so he started making fun of Philbin's age to his face, asking him things like, "What was it like living on Pangea?" and whether or not John Philip Sousa "was a partier."
McHale also touched on the epic final "Oprah's Favorite Things" episodes and the absurd level of excitement exhibited by her fans. Based on their reaction to iPads and cosmetics, McHale suspects Oprah does separate takes where she tells the audience things like, "we're going to raise your parents from the dead!"
Although he mostly mocked daytime TV hosts, McHale was really on "Conan" to promote a special Christmas episode of "Community" which will be done entirely in claymation a la "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer." The episode airs Dec. 9 on NBC, and while Conan said he's excited to see it, he audibly groans at the end of this clip when plugging a show on his former network.
