Sarah Jessica Parker Talks Twins, Aging (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 12/02/10 01:53 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

Sarah Jessica Parker features on the cover of the latest issue of Elle Magazine, and talks about her year-old twin daughters, how she ages gracefully and her new job as a fashion designer with Halston.

Highlights from the article and press release follow, with pictures from the shoot below.

On aging naturally:
"I don't know what I can do about the aging. Yes, I am aging. Oh my God, I'm aging all the time. It's like those flowers that wilt in front of you in time-lapse films. But what can I possibly do? Look like a lunatic?"

On meeting the twins after their birth:
"[Meeting them] is hard to describe. Everything is suspended. I can't even tell you what other sounds were in the room. I loved them immediately, but everything--their size, the shape of their heads, the color of their hair, their noses, their eyes--was new to me. They looked surprisingly different from James Wilkie, which I wasn't expecting."

On her reaction to being offered the position of President and Chief Creative Officer at Halston and Halston Heritage:
"I kept saying, 'You understand, by offering this you are going to be criticized?' It took me a long time to say yes."

On taking her role at Halston very seriously:
"I said, 'Please know this now: I will never do this for a title. I will never dip in and out of this. I'll do it like everything else I've ever done. I'll be involved down to the splitting of the atom.'"

I wish her luck.  How do you re-invent a classic, let alone modernize an iconic fashion house without destroying the brand?  Halston will be hard to interpret, especially since the original is still so fabulous. There is still a chance she can bring freshness to the company.

Stop hating. I've never heard a bad thing about her and she seems like a charming human being.

Not having a TV, I only heard about Sex and the City at first. I thought the concept of some women past their 20's carrying on their affairs and relationships as modern women in NYC sounded interesting. Then I saw the show. It was impossible to understand how Carrie could be credible as a sex columnist. What's more, she carried on her relationships with the maturity and preoccupations of an insecure teenager; I felt embarrassed for her character watching it. The rest of them didn't seem that much more developed emotionally, underneath their veneer of sophistication. Were the overhyped sex scenes within the context of a few threads of plot really worth sitting through the whole show for?

Remember it's just TV, HBO actually. A special dimension where no-one ever has to grow up.

A old horse with man hands in a $5,000 dress is still just an old horse with man hands.

The narcissism never stops! She will lose her mind when she turns 60! or sooner. Wait until her daughter become her competition, ouch!

As long as she's alive she'll always look somewhat better than her husband's 2 victims.

It's humorous when a celeb plays a fashionable character and is then portrayed in that manner in real life. Sorta like putting Arn0ld on the front of a gun mag.

I think she's lovely. No, she is not a classic beauty but she's got a real flair for clothes and style and she seems to always act like a lady. I have always liked her.

Pretty is as pretty does.

Those who call names and compare people's faces to animals and other body parts - that is not pretty.  It's petty.
