Yahoo! Finance:

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Gov. Chris Christie hopes New Jersey taxpayers won't have to repay any of the $271 million the federal government has demanded for a scrapped rail tunnel connecting the state and New York.

The governor also said Friday that there is no way New Jersey will share the cost of replacing the Tappan Zee Bridge with New York.

NJ's new darling of the Repub party has tunnel vision. He is not a visionary investing in his state to attract new business or to have major corporations headquartered there further grow and invest themselves to stay there.

NJ has a highly-educated population in spite of what reality TV portrays. Young college graduates can't afford to stay in NJ because the cost of living is so high. Manufacturing jobs, once the mainstay of the middle class in NJ, have gone to southern states and overseas.

No, the Guv is short-sighted. By gutting funding for education and by scrapping the tunnel project among other deep cuts he's garnering national kudos from the 'baggers and thumbing his nose to NJ's businesses and citizens. The tunnel would have created thousands of jobs and would have created small businesses to service it. He thinks he won by dissing the teachers' unions - he did not.

Christie won the election and NJ citizens lost.

You gotta love NJ politicians. On one hand they don't want to repay the Federal Gov't for the money spent on ARC tunnel. They will hire lawyers(because NJ doesnt have enough lawyers already on the payroll in Trenton) to sue.

But, on the OTHER HAND they want the PORT AUTHORITY TO GIVE THE 3 BILLION DOLLARS THEY ALLOCATED FOR ARC BACK TO NJ AND NJ PROJECTS.

Do as I say not as I do....The Republican way. Thanks Chris.

I,for one,am always amused at the penchant of some HP-ers for using capital letters as a means of reinforcing their arguments. Could you please explain the rationale?

Funny how Christie is acting tough towards a lame duck governor.

I want to see him say this to Governor-elect Cuomo, & then watch Cuomo sm@ck him in the face.

Memo to wrecking ball, Christie:

The tunnel will enable more NJ residents to commute to NYC so that they can bring the tax money to NJ. Without those jobs, what would NJ do?
10:37 PM on 12/04/2010
Good for you Governor let NYC find their own way out of their transportation mess. They have taken roads and turned them into bike paths so let them bike back and forth on a tow rope like they use at the ski resorts

hmmmm lets think about this

NYC = Where the majority of High Paying Jobs are for people living in NJ

So Gov of NY should pass law requiring NYC residency for NYC jobs or face massive tax focused on NJ commuters............ sounds like a winning policy from a NYC stand point

Christie must realize he is from New Jersey and Northern Jersey is dependent on New York. So, fine don't but then don't let people commute to NYC to work see what happens to the Garden State.
