Gifts For The Art Aficionado On Your List (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 12/06/10 03:17 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:15 PM ET

Considering the heady prices that have been recorded this year at art auctions around the world, buying gifts for the art lover in your life can seem daunting. So, unless you've been saving your pennies to show someone you love them $46 million-worth (in which case, may we recommend this pink diamond? It was last seen in Geneva), we thought we'd round up gifts perfect for any kind of arts lover.

MoMA STORE

Is your art lover also a design fanatic? The MoMA Store consistently delivers in the way of clever gifts that are priced to still let you buy nice things for everyone else in the family. We love the look of their I.dear Speakers with USB port for charging and playing purposes. We would definitely not re-gift these clever water glasses inspired by Piet Mondrian. Their classic gift, which forever impresses, is the Ghost Clock. And we'd be caught anywhere with our laptop wrapped up in this brightly colored, comical case.

Nothing says it better over the years than an original piece of artwork.

Nope! Instead, support local and independent artists, artisans, designers and crafters on Etsy. The stuff is made with love, creativity, ingenuity and humor. And you directly help another human being trying to make a living out of the talent they were born with. What else can be this special?

I second that. Also buy free trade gifts.

You mean artists like me? If I could quit my day job tomorrow and make art for a living, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

The pic of the ballerina with the dog is wonderful, and Helmut Newton can bring his mom (or whoever that is on the cover) over for Christmas dinner.

The arts sole impetus is the cause of defeating death. Becoming a parent: defeating death. Religion: defeating death. Our survival instinct is our silent master.
