What a bunch of BS, if I put all this in my purse I'd have muscle spasms in no time from carrying everything.

Purses throw women off balance and cause damage to their shoulders. Women should emulate men, and carry only the barest necessities - in a pocket. This purse stuff is so...Victorian.

Some of the ideas were really bad. On the other hand they left out important things like handi-wipes, band-aids, a tiny flashlight or other important things I can't think of right now.

That is a very large purse. An additional benefit is the workout you get from lugging it around all day.

What, mace isn't included on this list? : P

Pepper spray is more eco-friendly. :)

With all that stuff in your purse, it would be a pretty good bludgeon all on its own!

No.

What woman carries a full sized water bottle, utensils and tupperware in her purse?

This list is totally stupid unless you plan on carrying a huge backpack with you everywhere. An sorry, but for an adult woman, starving college student is not an appealing fashion statement.

I do carry the Monterrey Bay sustainability chart in my purse. I'll print out the pesticide guide too thank you for supplying a link.

As for the rest, you're pretty much insane. I carry a wallet and my keys, reading glasses and a pen. I don't even carry a cell phone.

You don't even NEED a phone, much less a "smart" one. Bah, consumerism.

I remember going to a professional development session and digging through my purse for my chequebook. I pulled out 2 baby diapers, a toy car, a book, a baggie of cheerios, a half-knitted slipper sock and my notebook to find it. The woman at the registration desk and the woman behind me were both laughing because they remembered those days.

These days I do have the reusable shopping bag, hand lotion, and a drop spindle as well as a book and my knitting.

I carry and use all of those except the hankies, the bus ticket, and the credit card reminder. And I'm what most here would call by the obscene epithet "teabagger".

This is about the most worthless article I've read in a while; and the suggestions about fish and the
"Monterey Bay Aquarium" fish guide, are about two completely different subjects!

I love my hankies. For all you squicked out about germs, you can wash them in hot water and bleach, and they are much sturdier and gentler on the nose.

Travel coffee cup? How about don't drink coffee in the car. Take an actual coffee break and relax!
Plastic tupperware? No thanks. I won't put plastic in the microwave. Glass containers for me.
Smartphone? Really? Nothing says sustainability like a pocket full of radiation, plastic and heavy metals. Don't get me wrong. I think smartphones are great. I just wouldn't put it on a list of eco-friendly products.
09:56 PM on 12/06/2010
I use my travel coffee cup for keeping cold water ready to drink in the car. Mine keeps water cold for 24 hours.
09:38 AM on 12/07/2010
That's a good idea! I was being only slightly snarky about drinking coffee in the car. It's wishful thinking that we could take more time for actual coffee breaks!
