You have my solemn pledge here today:
I will not go helmet to helmet with another NFL player. And, should I ever be fined for such conduct, I will donate triple my fine to The School for Kids with Half-An-Arm in Poughkeepsie.

Wonderful cross references. I click to one of the other references to the story and it brings me back to the same 3 lines written here. Very informative---NOT.

B$LL$HIT. Heath Miller is about as clean a player as you'll find. $40k was an appropriate fine for that cheap-@$$ shot.
08:00 AM on 12/07/2010
how was it a cheap shot, McClain could not control the fact that Miller had started to go down. What is McClain supposed to do stop in mid air, also had Miller not started to go down McClains hit would of been within the strikezone. The hit was misfortunate but it was not a killshot

I hear they got a new rule next year: if you wear black and gold, you can hit anybody , anywhere , anyhow, or drag a girl into the rest room and molest her, but nobody can hit back.

Had it been Harrison, he would have been ejected from the game. Instead, we got several clean (and hard) hits by Harrison.

I'm still waiting for Harrison to get fined for Ben's broken nose.

The title is misleading.

Apparently the NFL is embarrassed by this evidence of their inconsistent and unfair officiating now:

Refs play favorites everywhere. Look at the stuff Denver got away with in KC this week.
08:03 PM on 12/06/2010
Terrible no call. That has to be a penalty if the NFL wants the refs to play on the safe side. There's been alot of worse hits flagged for 15 yards this season.

Somebody really needs to draw a political cartoon of Goodell in a Ref's uniform throwing a flag at Isacc Newton sitting under a tree writing his laws...

A concussion is the best possible outcome of a hit like this. This could have been a back or neck breaker. Heath is one tough guy.

I was watching the game last night and I couldn't believe they didn't throw a flag on that hit.

in slow motion it looks bad, but I don't think this hit should draw a fine or flag. The hitter came in low as Miller started falling to the ground. At regular speed it looks like he was just trying to make a normal football hit. It's just unfortunate where Miller wound up, in a prone position to be hit the way he was.

That is pure BS! It most certainly was a dirty hit, and he should be fined as much as James Harrison has been. And where was the call when Ben got hit in the face?
08:08 AM on 12/07/2010
Ben got what he deserved

The pass was already on the ground (incomplete) well before the hit took place. This would/should have been a penalty under last year's rules.

If James Harrison were to have made that hit, he would have been suspended. There is a huge double standard in the NFL.

Whine, whine, whine. All I ever hear out of the mouth of a Stealer's fan is whining. Since the Steelers were virtually handed their last SB win, all the fans try to do is legitimatize their poor performances.

Congrats on being the new Yankees of football.

Whine, whine, whine. That's all we Steeler fans hear from everyone else. Everyone is so jealous that our legendary team hasn't fallen to the wayside like so many others and we're still one of the best. You don't even have the first clue about the Steeler organization if honestly wanna try and compare them to the Yankees.
Cry somewhere else.
08:28 PM on 12/06/2010
Typical delusional Steelers fan. You think your team is so good that everyone is out to get you.
08:05 PM on 12/06/2010
The Cowboys, not the Steelers, are the Yankees of the NFL

Really? When did the Yankees start to completely suck?
