Mark Zuckerberg 60 Minutes Interview

paidContent:

Leave it to 60 Minutes to pass off Facebook's utterly meaningless redesign of the site's profile pages as some kind of "exclusive" worth leading a segment on the company's founder, Mark Zuckerberg. It's not just that correspondent Lesley Stahl didn't understand what's meaningful about his story; it's that Zuckerberg essentially reduced the venerable newsmagazine to an unwitting shill.

" ...Facebook is like an overgrown dormitory."

Tee hee. I knew there was a reason I didn't like it, but I just couldn't articulate why. I think it's the "social networking". Yuck.

He's a d!ck and 60 Minutes needs to hire some younger reporters who are able to keep up with science and technology. It's bad enough the Supreme Court justices don't know the difference between Twitter and E-mail.

Why doesn't a programmer just create a new social network site that fixes all the things that people hate about Facebook? Seriously, I don't understand why people just don't go somewhere else.....like outside and talk to real people maybe.

Largely, this was a homerun from the Zuckerberg perspective. He would have done much better earlier on had this been his "Social Network" strategy. Instead his PR flacks and water carriers at places like Huffpo fought every single second of that movie.

They obviously scheduled the second sit down because the early "Social Network" strategy was such a disaster. They knew it would come up again and they could soften up his image RE: that movie.

60 Minutes being hustled has become an unfortunate recent habit:

I'm wondering what got into this guy to yuck it up with that walking disaster, war criminal G. Bush during an interview at facebook headquarters.

The best thing about the 2 segments devoted to Facebook was the interview with the Winklevoss twins.

Absolutely right on! 60 minutes was manipulated. Everyone I know tuned it and guess what's the topic of conversation today. Brilliant on Zuckerberg's part!!

The networks do not have news departments or journalists anymore so to imply that 60 Minutes is a news show is a joke. It's marketing and propaganda department for other corporations

To imply that there is any journalism to be done here gets the inevitable question "To what end?" Part of the reason he got a puff piece is that largely Facebook is a fact of life.

Yeah...they would have died too, if it wasn't for their fantastic ratings!
