Jim Clyburn cares about the future of South Carolina.
Jim DeMint cares about....Jim DeMint.

It must suk to be in the same congressional delegation as Jim DeMint. The complete lack of rational thought coming out of the DeMinted mind just amazes me. My sister had a talking doll that talked when you pulled a string, and that doll made more sense than JD.

The only way to create Tax Supported federal government bureaucrat jobs and government contracts to create government paid contractor jobs is for the private sector to be taxed and/or obligate the private sector though bonded endebtedness to create the funds to pay the public bureaucrat employee's salaries and benefits.

Primitive civilizations such as early pioneers and settlers of the USA had to provide their own military defense, police, firefighters, teachers, medicine, water, sewer, roads, bridges, welfare and other services as best as they could.

After the early pioneers and settlers could produce enough necessities of life for themselves and also to also support a rudimentary civilization, would they then combine their meager resources/or and tax themselves to hire bureaucrats as soldiers, teachers, water system operators, police, firefighters, and other services but limited these bureaucrats to the number that they could afford.

These bureaucrats did allow the producers to become more productive by not having to worry about providing those services for themselves (and for their own families).

So Demented is ok with doing away with public education in South Carolina. Wow that will go over great with the poor and middle class in South Carolina when they will have to stay home and home school their children. Which will produce an even greater amount of uneducated people who will continue to vote republican against their own best interests. Maybe this state needs to live with the action of their elected officials like Demented. I really respect Clyburn though for standing up to Demented.

Say NO to bailing out states! If the states acted and spent irresponsibly they should suffer the consequences...otherwise they will never learn their lesson and responsible states will have to pick up the tab.

The States are in trouble because of the lowering of taxes by the republicans. I think that whatever a state contribute is what they should get. Why should states like California and NY get less per capita back then a state like Alaska or South Carolina.

Libertylobo Just once could you think beyond your ideology and think longer term before you make statements like you did? Look ahead instead of a knee jerk right wing ideology reaction. Sometimes when you think beyond what's in front of you, you might change your opinion. Just a little constructive criticism.

Surely, Senator Demented knows that there is no union for teachers in the South. I'm sure that he also realizes that if he strangles the funding for public school teachers, Nikki Haley will have an easier time instituting a voucher system for all of those alternative charter/aka religious schools (at least for those students who need no busing to get there).

Why, just this morning, I opened my copy of The State newspaper (from Columbia, where I live), to see that our new governor, Nikki Haley, has hired a Labor Secretary who has been a union-busting attorney for years. So much to look forward to here... NOT.

"The baseless accusations from Congressman Clyburn's office are absurd," said Wesley Denton, a DeMint spokesman.

Enough said. Let's move on to important things like: DADT, DREAM Act, etc. To he!! with spending, tax increases, funding the government......let's do the important things. lol

GOP politics in action!

No new or raised taxes mean that you can't hire and retain teachers, the schools get dilapidated, and almost 50% of your school buses won't run. And when angry parents call to complain, the word is: We don't have the money to_______."

Its not as if the America they are growing up in relies on an education anyway!
12:18 AM on 12/10/2010
How is that a federal problem??

WOW!

Since you asked; who do you think is going to have to inject money into SC coffures to keep the teachers in school and make the buses run? Who do state governments rely upon for money when they fall short and their state taxpayers don't have the money?

Part of what the federal government does is give money to states in need; see infrastructure programs, etc. Did you not learn anything when the federal stimulus bill went through?

What no one seems to be talking about are the 5 " bluedog democrats" that torpedoed the $250,000 dollar tax limit bill. Let's discuss them! Where are the tax conservative Tea Party hippocrites? Why are they silent?? Where is the disgust with the lowdown-bottom dwelling GOP that held the unemployed for ransom? All I hear is Obama! Obama! Obama! Now look the GOP is ready to shut schools down. Where are the voices of opposition? Where is the SC Tea Party? Hippocrites!
