ABC News spoke with Lonely Planet's U.S. Editor, Robert Reid about the best countries, cities and more to visit in 2011.
Among the places that made the cut were Japan (in the midst of a "bounce back," according to Reid) and Albania, which gives a taste of the Mediterranean. It's also the 10th anniversary of 9/11, so New York will be busy with commemorations come fall, Reid notes.
