Rex Ryan Buries Game Ball From Monday Night Loss

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Rex Ryan buried the New York Jets' embarrassing loss to the New England Patriots.

Literally.

Cornerback Darrelle Revis said the coach led the team out to the practice field before its morning meeting Wednesday, took a game ball from the 45-3 rout Monday night and placed it in a freshly dug hole.

"He said we're burying the game," Revis said, adding that the team didn't know what Ryan was going to do. Revis also said he's never seen anything like that.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick also did something similar after a loss to the Dolphins in 2001. New England went on to win its first Super Bowl against St. Louis that season.

Ryan didn't mention the ball burial in his news conference, but said he told the team it was time to move on from the loss.

"We certainly know what happened on Monday," Ryan said. "It's full steam ahead against Miami."

The Jets (9-3) take on the Dolphins (6-6) in a game Ryan is confident his team will bounce back from.

"This will be a big win if we can accomplish it," he said. "It would be our 10th win of the season. Swagger or not, that's who we are. We're not going to dwell on this loss the rest of the season. We got beat. It is what it is. We're moving on."

Nice high school stunt! You..... I said You lost the game because you made decisions based on emotion.......something that Belichick will never do. I was disappointed that you didn't kiss Bill's ring at the end of the game. He had your lunch that night. This loss is going to drag the Jets down . Here it is Thurs and your still making headlines about a loss. I'll take the Dolphins this week.

I just wonder when teams are going to realize that talking trash about the Patriots is stupid? Some people will never learn, it is just fuel for the fire. Belichick loves when teams do that. Pats play way beter when they are considered an underdog in the media, and for a team to declare a victory before the game starts is just plain.... well stupid.
