This guy Demint is so crazy. He is a dinosaur who lives in a constant state of delusion. It's a shame we still have areas in this country populated with people who elect someone like this.

Until the "extreme left and right" learn enough civic decency to cooperate and squeeze entirely out of power the leaders of the bipartisan hack parade (now led by Obama and McConnell), US political culture will continue deteriorating at accelerating speed.

Maybe this deterioration is God's will. Because, since John Winthrop pronounced it as a political given, the will of the majority is God's will.

On the other hand, we at the "extremes" could learn civil decency, learn to cooperate, and God's will then would most certainly be born again.

Surely the thought is worth considering.

obama and the democrats have bent over backwards to work with the republicans, the right is the one who have been unwilling to cooperate. frankly tillthe right learns to cooperate the left should use the SAME tactics they did. block EVERYTHING they try to pass.workign with the right now is pointless. its funny how the exact smae things they supported at one time they now attack because the democrats pushed it.

I think Rubio knows jumping into bed with Demint is a losing proposition in Florida. Rubios tax plan also greatly adds to the deficit. Now that's a real Republican tax plan.

DeMint, Rubio and Paul should be rejected, then "fixed."

Maybe the genius Mr Demint hasn't figured out that rejecting this deal expires the Bush tax cuts. Good luck on getting a deal as bad as the Bush tax planned through any congress again. Like the Bushter himself said "fool me once and then fool me and ...oh you know what I mean!"
01:52 AM on 12/11/2010
Actually I'm not sure Demint does know what you mean. After all, Bush was his mentor and despite hours of instruction they never really got that 'fool me' thing figured out.
01:03 AM on 12/11/2010
What would this guy consider a better deal? NO taxes for anyone making 250,000 including corporations. And cutting medicare,Medicaid, social security, no unemployment pay, abolish and cut the education departments, lower staffing at V.A. Hospitals Etc etc etc.

If Demint wishes to reject the tax deals too, it gets me nervous and reminds me of Oscar Wilde's old saying, "Whenever people agree with me, I always feel I must be wrong."

And that is exactly what he is hoping for. We will think that Republicans think this is something other than the worlds biggest Christmas gift. Not only extending the tax cuts for the rich, but expanding the deficit and hindering the economy...the two things they plan to run against the Democrats in 2012.
11:35 PM on 12/10/2010
I love DeMint. He is exactly right. once again Senator DeMint is proving to be a Statesman in a land of two-bit politicians.

The Republicans should do nothing until Rubio, Rand Paul, Ron Johnson, and others are in the Senate.

In the House, we can have people like Paul Ryan leading the charge.

All thieving liars DeMint and Ryan the engineers. It figures you like them. Demint wants a small government with a big God and no gays or husbandless teachers with children. Indoctrinating the baggers and trying to sell the kool aid that SS is broke. Ryan is the accountant for Republicorp. Mo thank you. The middle class is going to tank in the next two years thanks to these people and until the media starts to shed some light on them we are all finished, I don;t know why you pompously promote all these policies.

"The Republicans should do nothing until Rubio, Rand Paul, Ron Johnson, and others are in the Senate."

Well there certainly won't be any hardship there, they have been practicing doing nothing for two years...and by the way, what on earth makes you think that any of your comic opera stooges will actually move any legislation after the performance you neocons have treated the country to? Have fun while we ask you every day "Where are the jobs?" and point out the hypocrisy as you suck up the earmarks, inflate the deficit and generally behave like what we all know you to be. See you in 2012 bagger.

C Street wants all that the middle class has--these two bozos will help Jim achieve that goal.

Ok A$$ hats. How's this? You can have your tax extension. But I want something in return if you think Reaganomics works. End both wars NOW. Bring home the troops and stop hemorrhaging our tax money to get our kids killed over a hundred or so AlQ' s who are hiding in PAKISTAN! Otherwise take your tax extensions and put them where the sun don't shine
11:36 PM on 12/10/2010
Your friend, obama has had two years to end the two wars, close gitmo, take care of the Bush tax rates, and spread the wealth around.

Its' not working very well isn't it....

They are not his wars and imagine trying to disengage after what has been done. Gitmo would have been closed except we cannot have prisoners here to try them. Nice fake argument.

i was not denigrating hispanics. an hispanic on the ticket will attract hispanics as obama attracted african americans and hillary and palin attracted women. i am not implying all. it only takes "some" to split the ticketc. this ombined with apathy on the left could lead to a rethuglican victory.
