Obama Smoking

Politics Daily:

Two wars, a jobless recovery and a brutal Election Day might make some folks nervous enough to grab a cigarette. But the hard times have had the opposite effect on President Obama, who hasn't had a smoke in nearly a year, according to his White House spokesman.

Good for him if he has actually quit.

Slightly off topic, but did anyone else click on the link to the WP article about the surgeon general's report? Sheesh...it kind of scared the bejeebus out of me! I don't smoke, but the report makes it sound like just one puff of second hand smoke destroys your body. I knew second hand smoke was bad, but not THAT bad.

Oh, I see now! His recent poor judgements are attributed to quiting smoking! Does this mean that his head will eventually clear and he'll be able to think clearly soon? His lungs may clear somewhat but his image among the middle class/poor will remain severely tarnished. Too bad that the damage will have already been done and there will be no turning back.

I was suspicious about the timing of this story when it was first posted, but now that it has lasted for so many days, this is clearly news management to give the president a win.

lioness39...IF I WERE THAT POOR BELEAGUERED MAN, I'D START STOP BEING THE SELL-OUT, AND COWARD THAT NOBODY VOTED FOR AND START BEHAVING LIKE THE MAN WITH STRENGTH AND CONVICTION THAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THOUGHT THEY WERE ELECTING. Yes, I'm aware of the annoying caps used here, and actually I'm NOT shouting. Apparently you are still suffering obamaesque-delusions that compel you to make silly excuses for this President.

Argh, I don't believe in correcting comments here, since I feel typing errors, omitted words and such are just unimportant in this type of forum as long as the general message is understandable. HOWEVER, I will do it this one time, as I know there are throngs of strange people who live to correct spelling and grammar here. I realize they can't argue the points being made, so mocking the way the comment is written is their only outlet. CLEARLY sentence should read: "I'd STOP being the sell-out and coward that nobody voted for...." Omit the word "start"....

Well that explains it. clown is focusing on quitting smoking instead of running the country. As great as it is he supposedly quit, he could have picked a beter time to do that.It is impossible to do his job while quitting. Anyone who has quit before knows how hard it is. And no I have never smoked. Old man did for years and it was the most difficult thing he did.

If the President has quit, good for him. It isn't easy. If he hasn't quit, so what? It is his choice.

Robert Gibbs doesn't have the best record of truth telling. I don't believe him. If true, good for you Obie.

Hang tough Mr President. It's been a year for me and I still have to fight the urge sometimes.

It does help explain his recent poor decisions though... he's in a withdrawal haze. It really is hard to think when you're having a nicotine fit. For real.
