All libraries are beautiful in their own way.

The John Rylands Library in Manchester is also worth a visit!

The Cornell University library looks amazing; like something out of a dream.

When I was too young for school, my mother and I would go to the library every day while my brother and sister were in class. We'd be there for hours and I loved every minute of it. The old book smell and the quiet of the library stayed with me. I can still see the little library in my head. There was a painting of two young girls reading together in a chair, and a painting of a boy fishing from a dock. I went back to the same library as an adult, and saw for the first time how tiny it really was. It's amazing how little things stay with you. To this day, I'm obsessed with books and libraries. My mother passed away in 2008. I cherish the time we spent together there. Thank you, tiny library in Strong, Arkansas. I'll never forget you.

We  visit libraries in the cities and towns where we vacation.
Always a treat!

Most extraordinary places, all of them are worth to visit and spend time reading books. My favorite library is in a small northern town (picture below). I spend hours there whenever I can.

How soon before some wing-nut says something like "Get yer gubmint hands off my library!"?
10:01 PM on 12/13/2010
Somehow I don't think those people spend much time in libraries, or reading.

Whenever someone starts screaming about our country turning socialist, I bring up a long list of beloved government provided services that can be considered socialist, and public libraries are at the very top.

Salt Lake City has a beautiful public library. Seriously.

I can only hope that the photo of Vasconcelos Library, Mexico City is deceptively bad. To me it looks like a warehouse.

I have always believed, it is one of the greatest gifts a parent can give to a child, the love of reading, I still have books that my mother read to me as a child, and likewise I have read them to mine, it is the opening of a gateway, that will never close again.

It's a library--then I'm ready to be amazed. Books amaze, tantalize, thrill me. But nothing beats my childhood library...an Octagonal building with window-seats directly in front of the Caribbean Sea...

And for the same reason, no home is complete without one. Ever wonder why on "Cribs" you'd see mountains of DVD's (nothing is wrong with that), but no personal library...or study? A place for thinking?

No room is complete without books.

I thought is was beautiful inside and out BTW. Did you take the time to go inside and read something on the top floor under all of that glass and scenery? If not you wouldn't get it.

THANK YOU! I was expecting to see it here, but alas.
One of the few places I've been to in my life where my jaw was literally hanging open when I walked in.
