Anderson Cooper's Daytime Talk Show Name: 'Anderson'

Anderson Cooper's new daytime talk show now has a name: "Anderson."

The New York Times' Brian Stelter reported on Twitter that Warner Bros., which will be producing the show, had decided on the name. The use of just the first name in a title is common on daytime shows ("Regis and Kelly," "Oprah," and "Ellen," to name just a few examples.) "Anderson" will debut in the fall of 2011. Cooper will remain on CNN.

It already sounds like the name of a failed Jim J. Bullock 70s sitcom.

Using "Regis and Kelly," "Oprah," and "Ellen" as examples is not so great. Those are all female oriented shows that attract viewers who want the warm, fuzzy, mug of tea, curling up on the couch type of show. Is that Cooper's demographic?

His first name is too long, effete and snooty to work in a medium of fickle viewers and instant gratification.

Well he was the host the reality show The Mole but CNN told him to choose that or CNN as it was not a good visual image for a CNN host.

I wonder what has changed this year?

P.S. I'm hoping it won't be about fawning over celebrities and promoting their latest 'projects', etc...that would kill my respect for Anderson quite fast. There are already too many media outlets doing that. Find truly interesing/inspiring/charismatic people, and the rest follows.
